"Excellent course, great support, a must do 26.2!" (about: 2012)

Excellent and fast course. Well stocked aid stations.

I recommend this RD start running ultra-marathons at this same course. This would be the ideal course for a new ultra runner.

Excellent race!

"Great down home race" (about: 2012)

This was my first marathon. I simply loved it. The course was the beautiful Brushy Creek regional trail. The trail was in great condition and the gravel areas were recently serviced. The weather played along nicely and we had just the right amount of chill in the air.

The spectators were great. The water points were well manned and were cheering you on all the way. Loved the 'Wizard of Oz' water stop.

I'll be back.

"Small race but very well organized and supported" (about: 2012)

Not one of those giant marathons with thousands of runners and crowd support at every corner. This is small but well organized. Best of all, multiple chances to see your friends and family along the 3 loops course.

"A very nice and enjoyable race." (about: 2012)

Brushy Creek Park is easily accessible with plenty of parking. No problems with traffic or congestion on race day. Even though this is a 3 loop race, I never got tired of the scenery. Not many spectators, but those who were there were very supportive. Good aid stations with water and gatorade. This is a shared trail so others were on the course for a run or bike ride. However, it was not crowded and non-participants didn't impede the race. It is a moderately hilly course, including one significant hill that you do three times, including at mile 25, so leave a little something in the tank for the end. Very cool medals, shirts and socks for participants. In conclusion, this is a hassle-free race with great Texas Hill Country scenery. Unless you just have to be part of a huge gathering, I would highly recommend this race. I hope to be back in 2013.

"Fantastic Marathon!" (about: 2012)

This is my second time running this marathon and I absolutely love it! As others have said, running loops helps you to know what to expect and gives you a gauge for where you are. It also allows you to see the other runners more than once, which makes it more personal. There generally aren't many spectators, but those who are there cheer for every single runner. Also, as a Christian who tries to reserve Sunday for Christ, it's great to have a Saturday marathon. Thanks, Frank!

"A unique, laid-back, and fun marathon!" (about: 2011)

I've run various types of races over the years. The Frankenthon is truly a unique and fun race that I'll run again and recommend to others. The course is fair but not easy so a PR is also not easy. If you like trying new races, add Frankenthon to your list!

"Great first time marathon!!" (about: 2011)

I am a runner, but this was my first time to tackle a marathon, and while I was nervous about running the same thing over and over and the small number of participants and spectators, I was not disappointed at all! This is probably because those who did take part in either capacity were friendly and highly encouraging. I loved that after that first loop, I knew exactly what to expect on the course and where to expect it. It made pacing easier and seeing the same people numerous times experiencing the same thing as myself helped boost my morale and keep me going. Aid stations were plentiful and varied drinks and fuel options offered. If I run another marathon, I would definitely do this one!

I loved this race. I have only run one other marathon and other smaller distance races, but this was my favorite. I loved the three loops which allowed me to keep my head in the game. I thought the people at the water stops were awesome and super supportive. I really enjoyed seeing the elite runners come by on their three laps and how everyone was so friendly and talkative on the race. It is a pretty course and easy to get to,park, and have your friends watch you. Frank is wonderful. Even though the time limit was 6 hours, he kept the clock up and allowed all of the runners that came in after 6 hours to still have an officially registered time (which was very important to me since I was one of those people!). The shirts and socks rocked. I would definitely recommend this race to anyone wanting a laid back, super fun race!

"Super fun, low stress marathon!" (about: 2011)

I really, really enjoyed this event! I signed up at the last minute after a neighbor mentioned there were still spots available. Some friends had run it in years past and enjoyed it but I had forgotten. The technical race shirt, socks, and medal all sport great designs. The post race refreshments and awards were awesome as well. There was a wide selection of food and drinks -water, beer, soft drinks, pizza, doughnuts, chips, crackers, etc. My favorite was the protein bars - best post race snack ever. The staff, volunteers, and runners were all super friendly. Parking and and spectating was easy for runners, family, and friends. I'd definitely run it again!

Frank does a great job with this race. Only thing negative was probably my fault for only paying attention to the runners in front of me. Despite running in 2010 we got off the course. Maybe a couple of signs at turns would help. Will be back for 2012.
