This review may be a bit biased since I know the person that puts on this race. Frank Lividauis, the organizer, has made a huge impact on me as a runner. Frankenthon is held the week before Halloween weekend at Brushy Creek Lake Park.
What makes this marathon a five star for me?

1- Everyone is very supportive and friendly. You really feel like you are part on a small community. In fact, the volunteers are part of the Lividauis clan or runners themselves.

2- the race is well-organized and clearly marked. There is plenty of parking also.

3- great swag, including a long sleeve tech shirt and socks from The Sock Guy and a monster finisher's metal.

4- I like the variety along the trail, some hills, pavement and gravel. It's also a Boston qualifier if you are interested.

5-lots of post race food. You get to indulge in donuts and pizza.

The proceeds from the marathon get donated to the local libraries. When you run this race, not only are you doing you body good; you are giving back to your community.

"Fantastic Race!!!" (about: 2012)

I loved taking part in this race. Very organized for a small event. Organizers and volunteers are friendly and approachable. Believe it or not having multiple bathroom options within 10 - 100 feet of the start line was the best bonus of all. If you run marathons you know how important this is!!! The trail itself is beautiful and if you want a race where you can see family and friends multiple times, this is the race. You could actually give someone all your nutrition and rest assured you will see them often enough if you need it. Nice not to have to carry 4 guus through the early miles. I loved the medals. They are simple and classy. Not over done. Plus you get some pretty sweet socks in addition to your race shirt. I like this new sock thing some races are starting to pick up. Again, I enjoyed the race and look forward to participating next year. Hope more of you marathoners come join me!!!

While there are not many spectators along this small marathon, the quality of the the course and the quality of the organization are golden. The course is a regional trail where the creeks, fields, water, and wildlife are right next to you. Being 3 laps along the trail, it is easy to spot friends and competitors and gauge their progress. The long sleeve T, socks, and awards are made with original artwork. The event is run with no nonsense and no delays. And there is plenty of pizza and soft drinks for all at the post race party.

This race is a great local marathon with no hassles and lots good attention to details.

Fun race, great venue for first timers and veterans alike.Great venue to qualify for Boston, if you have trained properly.Great venue if you don't want to fight the crowds at big races. Easy access, parking and spectator friendly. Great job on hydration stations. Everyone was friendly and helpful.Will definitely run again next year. Hope to see you there.
Great tech shirt and medal.

I really enjoyed this marathon. This is a small but quality race. The course is beautiful and fairly flat. It is run entirely on foot/bike paths, partly paved and partly trail. The aid stations were well organized, and there were good refreshments at the end. I ran with a friend who was doing his first marathon, and it was a great experience for us both. A big thanks to Frank for putting on a great race.

I'm a runner but is my first time doing a full and what else more wonderful than chose hills , the race was great ,water stations were just what you expected And very well organized I'm really glad I chose to run in your challenging course. I was planning to finished at 4 hour but didn't plan the hills so over all ill do it again next year!

I was a little hesitant about this race due to the concrete and loops, but it ended up being a fabulous race and one that I would recommend to everyone!
I actually enjoyed the loops since I could see the faster runners several times on the course making it enjoyable.
It was mostly flat, making this a great BQ race.
You could run on the trail next to the concrete which I did most of the time.
The volunteers were awesome. They had gatorade and water at every aid station which were closely spaced out.
They had other volunteers handing out candy, donuts, etc..which I never took but it was a nice option.
The post race food was plentiful with the exception of water. I saw sodas in the ice chests, but no bottled water.

The perks were:
Easy/convenient parking for runners and spectators;
Easy no hassle packet pick up;
Small race, only 130-150 runnners;
Great BQ race;
Great volunteers;
Great race for spectators

Good race, well organized, small event, mild to moderate difficultly, with lots of gradual ups and downs, since being on a mostly paved trail. Only complaint, though water stops were plentiful, the cups I thought were too small. Good price for a marathon, shirt and socks are great.

"Well organized, supportive and friendly marathon." (about: 2012)

This was my second year running this marathon, with last years (2011) being my first marathon ever. This race is well organized. Water stops were right where they needed to be. The mile markers were very accurate! As someone who runs without a GPS watch, I depend on my split times at each mile and found them to be very consistent. The three loop course is also an advantage (once you get past the mental hurdle of running 3 8.75 mile laps). After the first loop you know exactly what to expect.
The loop course also keeps things very supportive and friendly. You have multiple opportunities to encourage all your fellow runners on the course, not just those running with you. Also, my family loves to come watch and hold signs. With the way the course is set up they got to see the start, watch me run by them 5 times and then be at the finish. Can't beat that as a spectator!
All the volunteers were very helpful and encouraging. The shirt, socks, medal and trophy are very good quality along with great post race food. Papa John's pizza and world famous Round Rock Donuts (can't beat those two), along with soda, and other refreshments give you something to look forward to after the race.
This race goes on my calendar now as a yearly must do. Frank does a great job with this race and you'd be hard pressed to find a better organized, more supportive and friendlier marathon than the Frankenthon!
