COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 The Zydeco marathon was by far my favorite so far! From registration, to communication before the event, to packet pickup, to the course, the spectators, the AFTER PARTY, the food, the beer...I don't know that it could have been better! I know this will quickly become a very popular event. I'm already looking forward to running it next year! | |

COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 4 FANS: 5 Overall I was impressed with the event - I ran the half-marathon and plan to again. There was decent support along the route (loved the rock band on their porch) and the organization was by-and-large well done. The water stops were frequent and there were enough volunteers handing out the drinks (yay volunteers!). There were some things might might need to be improved: Getting an email response from the organizers was a challenge. It seemed that some of the emails were not working when people were seeking the change from the marathon to the half. Corrals need to be better organized. In the narrow streets just after the start the slower runners were impeding the progress of the faster ones. I did think corrals were going to be organized by pace but I didn't see anything. The marathon course should not involve a repeat route - then there would be more runners. The thought have having to run the same route again can be a bit of a downer. There was no mention of catering for vegetarians and vegans after the event. There were not enough port-a-johns at the start and the lines were heinous. | |

First Marathon
COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 4 FANS: 5 I was very pleased with the effort put into this race by the Zydeco staff! The 1/2 marathon course was perfect and the crowds were fantastic. I was very proud to be a Lafayette resident after seeing the turn out of runners and supporters. Areas for improvement- 1. Starting corals based on times. 2. Water station pre-race/start line. 3. Pics at the finish line. Thanks again to the Zydeco staff, I'm looking forward to next year! | |

COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 This was my 5th marathon, and I have to say it is right up there with the best of them as far as well-organized and supported. Great crowd and awesome volunteers at every water stop! The Cajun food and party at the finish was the BEST finish line party that Ive seen. I highly recommend this marathon. | |

COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 I was surprised by how many people were out on the course cheering. Registration, packet pick-up and day of were all run very smoothly, and communication was prompt and friendly. If I had to suggest anything, maybe more toilets at the start line. Thanks for making this happen. Can't wait to come back in 2015. | |

COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 4 FANS: 2 course was pretty flat and routed through downtown,suburbs etc to make it varied and interesting.Race support excellent and water/powerade/gu in abundance. Not much in spectator support if that is your thing but fast course with some turns. Lots of hotels and restaurants close by and lots of food etc at end. Great support from race director my only request would be lots more toilets at start as 20 cannot possible be enough for 2,000 participants. | |

First Marathon
COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 I've run a few half marathons..from Disneyland Half, Disney Princess, The San Francisco Half,Jackson Blues and many local races and I have to say I am VERY impressed with your race! You have done your homework and then some with this race. I will be back next year and with more friends! Only thing I could think of adding would be Chocolate milk at the finish and maybe some BioFreeze with a 'tongue depressor stick' to apply it at the medical aid stations throughout the course. Again, great job to the organizers!(I participated in the half marathon) | |

COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 I was so excited to run my FIRST marathon in my hometown of Lafayette for the FIRST ever inaugural Zydeco Marathon! It was amazing to be able to stay home for the first time and actually sleep in my own bed instead of traveling to NOLA or BR like we normally have to do for major races like this! Although the double loop was not ideal for those running the 26.2, it meant alot to still have spectators out to support the runners on their last loop around the course. Overall the race was fabulous and we had a blast! Can't wait to see what next year holds :) |
