"Great race. Need to improve on race support." (about: 2014)

The biggest issue I saw was race support. Really need people directing traffic direction into the Fairgrounds...waited 40 minutes to park because there was no one at the light directing. This created a jam and made it difficult to make a left turn before the light turned red. Busing was great and efficient. More water stops and port-a-potties. More crowd support, bands at mile marks would be nice. Maybe a different NFL team theme at each mile marker? Also play up football! Encourage people to wear their favorite team's jersey, etc. Great swag. Expo was a bit confusing.

"Outstanding event - ready to do next year" (about: 2014)

For first time event this race was wonderfully well organized. The regular e-mails were good. I liked how well the course was marked, the mile markers, the running time each mile, the number of volunteers were all good. I am now just a walker and this event was one that the walkers felt like part of the event and not people to be tolerated.

On the down side the race expo was too chaotic and at the end the course around the HOF to finish needed to be better marked as I had to ask a cop where I was supposed to turn. I liked the course but the streets were very rough after our winter.

Overall though it was a terrific event.

"Fantastic inaugural event" (about: 2014)

I would definitely recommend this race. In the weeks/months before the race there was constant and detailed information being sent by the race director. I was coming from out of town and I knew exactly what to do to get to the expo and the starting line. The expo was in the Hall Of Fame which was cool and unique. There was a lot more crowd support than I expected from a first year and smaller race. The course was clearly marked and the paths well maintained. The staging of the water stops at the half miles really made the back half of the race mentally easier. The finish inside the stadium was great. The finisher's medal was cool and they gave a fleece blanket for finishers. All of the volunteers were very nice and friendly. It was a really great start for this race, if I hadn't already known it was the first year they were doing this I wouldn't have been able to tell from an organizational standpoint.

I qualified for Boston so I will not be able to return to run the full next year but may come back to do the half with friends and family.

Would like a relay, love the awards, water stations were great, finish was awesome and the expo was cool. Also like that you could change the registration if needed.Truly one of the best marathons I've experienced.

From the very moment I registered, I felt involved in this marathon. The group training runs which were made available to us on the course were an awesome way to build excitement. There were emails and Facebook posts to keep us encouraged. The Expo in the Pro Football Hall of Fame was truly unique and incredible. As a runner, race day seemed to be flawless, from the moment that I parked, until I got off the bus at the stadium for the start there seemed to be no confusion. The course itself was well marked and there were spectators and entertainment all along the way. All the support staff along the way were cheerful, and possibly the best way to finish a marathon. Once I could see the stadium, I could feel and hear the energy from it. As I ran onto the turf, I heard my name over the PA system and that I could break a 3:40 marathon! It was just an awesome overall experience! These guys did a great job!

"Awesome!" (about: 2014)

This was my third marathon and I thought it was absolutely awesome! The course was challenging with just a 'few' hills ;) I thought it was an extremely well marked course! Police officers did a great job keeping cars off the course! There was water and Gatorade at every station, which were frequent and stocked! The volunteers on the street and at the water stations especially were really awesome! And they were there till the end! Finishing on the football field was simply icing on the cake!

I know that all positive feedback doesn't help you better the race; but, the entire race was great. Perfect course. Spectator turnout was great for a first year race. Runners will talk about this one and come back next year. My only comments for improvement are small. Chocolate milk at finish - personal favorite. And the expo snaking thru hof was confusing. .. wasn't sure if I saw all vendors.. looking to buy clothes but couldn't find- real busy.

"HoF is an Excellent New Spring Marathon!" (about: 2014)

11-50 previous marathons | 1 Pro Football Hall of Fame Marathon
COURSE: 4  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 4

Running the first annual Pro Football HoF marathon was a treat. Close to home, it became a must-do when I started thinking about a spring marathon. I signed up early and it was very affordable as marathon prices go.

The race organizer is a tireless worker in the running community and I knew that it would be a first-rate event. The HoF marathon also seemed to have good community support in terms of investment to make it solid event. All this promise turned out to be an accurate reflection of the experience.

The course was not as hilly as it could have been in Canton but this required runners make a lot of turns in the back-half. I worried about this pre-race. But it is worth the trade-off. Plus there were lots of straight-aways in the last 4 miles to race if your legs still had some pop. There were plenty of water stops. The swag was good. The date of the race means the chances for good racing weather are optimal unlike May marathons in OH, PA, & MI.

Having the ability to use of the stadium before and after the event was a plus as well.

This race immediately rockets to the top (just under Akron) for marathons in Northern Ohio. I suspect that given a few years to grow, this marathon will only become more popular because this will be an event that guarantees a great atmosphere and predictable structure for trying to race a marathon or half-marathon.

If you are looking for a new race or looking for a race that sets you up to show off your training, try the HoF marathon in Canton.
