This race was very well-done, especially for a first year. Very good communication prior to race, plenty of information provided, fun course, etc. Would expect more spectators in the future as it becomes more popular. Also, need more eating options for spectators - or other things to do while waiting. Do need to inform volunteers better about race information - at least two were downright rude in responding to a simple question for a course map.

Areas for improvement:
1) More food options at the end. I am a vegetarian and a turkey sandwich is definitely something I will not eat. Thus, the only food available to me was a banana.
2) Start the race at the fairgrounds. Too stressful to shuttle to the HOF for the start and unable to hear anything over the speakers anyway.
3) Post an elevation map. While there were not major hills, the course had more hills than I had anticipated (especially from about mile 20 on). Just would have been nice to know what to anticipate beforehand.
4) Need signs posted for Expo info - put these everywhere so that runners know where to go. Also, where were all of the vendors? From the event info it seemed as though there were going to be several but either they all left, were never there, or were someplace else that I did not find...

Due to the word limit, for my full review go to

wangcoasttocoast.blogspot.com/2014/05/review-pro-football-hall-of-fame.html for my full review.

But to sum that review up:
- Decently hilly, but not terribly hilly course. It is challenging.
- Decent but not great scenery the first half. Second half is mostly residential neighborhoods.

Good
- Affordable entry fee
- Access to Fawcett Stadium restrooms meant no wait.
- Great medal, T-shirt and fleece finisher blanket
- Overcrowding never an issue.
- Water stations plentiful and volunteer support was great.
- Awesome quick hassle-free gear check.
- Fantastic medical tent and therapy assistance after the race.

Other observations
- Ok crowd support
- After the race, you only got for food, a Subway sandwich, banana and bottle of water.
- There is adequate runner tracking but only for 10K, 20K, 30K and finish line.
- Expo was spread throughout Hall of Fame, which was great for football enthusiasts, but you had to walk around and search for vendors. Not as many vendors as a typical expo.

Bad
- Wait to get into parking at the Stark County Fairgrounds was about 20 minutes. Get there early.
- Water stations were away from the course tangent line meaning you had to run more to get water. Race director said that was intentional so as not to block runners skipping the water stop.
- After the race, you had to walk up a steep hill to get to the shuttle buses.
- Some potholes on course and Monument Road was in poor shape with road that inclines right and left with uneven pavement.
- Sport Photo was not impressive. Too few pictures for the amount of money charged compared to MarathonFoto and backgrounds were disappointing.
- Worn brick sections on 23rd Street NW and Third Street NW. Possible ankle hazard.
- You had to dodge people who had finished the half marathon the final two miles.

To sum up, I think the race is off to a good start, and I expect it to get better in future years, as the organizers work out the kinks. It's also very possible to PR on the course and qualify for Boston.

By far, the most positive, well-organized race I have ever run. Everyone, from the volunteers to the pace setters to the expo workers, were helpful and friendly. Great medal and finisher blanket!

"A Great Experience!" (about: 2014)

I signed up mainly because of the early date (tired of being cooked at late May marathons), but found an awesome event. This race is a cut above other medium-sized city marathons I've run in. Why?
1) Connection to the Football HOF. The tour, the stadium, the overall athletic and professional feel.
2) The course. Obviously a lot of thought went into this course since it's scenic and interesting the whole way. It's challenging too.
3) The best shirt I've ever gotten at an event ... plus a blanket at the end. Wow!
4) Tons of support. Many streets closed, huge number of police, bus drivers, directors, water stop workers, etc. A very substantial event that clearly has strong community backing.

Exceptional Organization. Quantity and location of Waterade and Portalette stops were perfect. I hope this never changes. Finishing on the field of the stadium was a wonderful experience. I only have one small negative comment. I signed up for the live text updates to a mobile phone so the spectators i brought with me could track my progress during the race, and this function didn't work at all.

"Plan to run it again" (about: 2014)

Well organized. No negatives. The finish line area was very exciting. The visible clocks along the route helped me stay energized. Thankfully the weather was nice since where you park is not close to the start line. It was interesting to see the museum during packet pickup. As it was the first year there were not too many spectators along the route but I suspect that will change as the race is established.

This race was fantastic! I ran-walked the half-marathon & PR`d. I`m not speedy & I felt just as valued as the elite athletes! Mile markers great! Water stops & porta-potties perfectly placed. Good crowd support & the most awesome volunteers ever! The Expo was fu - inside the Football Hall of Fame. Parking was stress free! Runners parked at fairgrounds and were shuttled in to race. I loved the race shirt - excellent quality! Bibspersonalized & a nice keepsake. Medal is unique & beautiful, and I love my blanket!! This was my 6th half-marathon & my favorite so far! I`ll be back in 2015!

"Overall it was a positive experience." (about: 2014)

1 previous marathon | 1 Pro Football Hall of Fame Marathon
COURSE: 4  ORGANIZATION: 4  FANS: 4

This was my first half marathon as runner. Overall it was a positive experience.
I only had a couple of concerns for the event. Firstly the parking situation wasn't good. I understand why parking for the event is at the fairgrounds, but things could have been smoother. It wasn't clear in the final instructions sent to me that parking at the fairgrounds would be closed after the start of the race. My parents came later after the start of the race and the fairgrounds were closed. They were dissappointed that they couldn't see me finish my first half marathon. Also there were less buses running people back to the fairgrounds after the race. This made for longer wait times.
My second concern was the length of the course. The four in the group of people I knew all had the course running long. I started my gps right on the start line. It had the race at 13.4.
As I said before I had a great time. The atmosphere was awesome. The city is scenic and the crowd was awesome. I plan to run it again next year.
