"I can't imagine how this race could get any better" (about: 2014)

It's impossible to believe this was a first-time event. There wasn't one aspect from packet pickup to the bus ride back to our cars that was disorganized or poorly thought out. I guess if I HAD to suggest one improvement, it would be bus pickup in front of the HOF after the race so we don't have to hobble up the hill to get a bus. But everything flowed so smoothly, it was fun, exciting, water stations were perfectly placed, the course was fun and engaging, the swag was awesome, the atmosphere was amazing, the volunteers and spectators were fantastic, the amenities were countless and I'll mention the swag one more time because I LOVE MY BLANKET! I seriously wish I could run this race once a month. This was my first, but certainly won't be my last. You've set the bar SO HIGH though! Seriously, do this race. I can't believe running that far was SO MUCH FUN! And all because of everything they had on the course and before and after. I can't wait for next year!

The course was great. It had alot of corner to turn, but over all great. The crowds/spectators were awesome, especially for staying out to cheer for my time of 5:11:08 . I cannot express enough thanks to all of the volunteers and the HOF Marathon team! I thought the entire event was well organized. I appreciated the emails with updates leading up to the race and the Facebook post to. But need to change the parking, that is one thing that can be improved. The expo and marathon was an AMAZING experience! Thank you!

Bus shuttles were excellent from fairgrounds to the start line. A different story for the shuttles on the return trip. Nice course. Great weather. A little more hilly than I expected, but overall a nice race. Would do it again for sure.

Jim Chaney and the pro football hall of fame put on a fantastic event. It had excellent perks especially getting to tour the pro football hall of fame, finishing in fawcett stadium as we'll as the fine finisher medal and the fleece blanket!

"VERY NICE FIRST YEAR RACE" (about: 2014)

Having never ran a 1/2 marathon before I was not sure what to expect. Overall, the race went very well. The transportation back and forth to the race site needs some refining. I think my biggest disappointment was the lack of the promised cheer squads. Would definitely run the race again; however.

First Marathon
COURSE: 5  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 5

I thought everything was set up well. It was my first 1/2 marathon so I didn't know what to expect. The volunteers were wonderful. The shuttle service was a little slow but we made it! My friend suggested that we set up a full fence for the finishers who were coming across the finish line so people would not cut across the runner's lane. Thanks for the water and gatorade!!! Thanks for the email updates and information. I will run again next year. THANK YOU!!! This was a big event to organize and I appreciate all the hard work that made it great. I loved the tuba players and others who entertained us along the way.

"This race is about the runners." (about: 2014)

While only my 4th Marathon I'm using MCM13, BOA Chicago13, and Cleveland Rite-Aid13 as the side-by-side. This race was great. It stands side by side with MCM and Chicago as far as being a memorable time in it's own right.

If you're looking for flat and fast, this shouldn't be it but didn't stop me from posting 15 minutes under my PR after a brutal midwest winner training where run quality simply didn't exist. The course has like 68 turns. Longest straights are a few miles. Hills are rolling and manageable but challenging at the same time. I'm a Clydesdale by any real description (6ft 220) and if I can post a 4:04 after a 4:19 on Chicago's pool table felt it has to be partly because of the race environment.

From the EXPO that was runner and family friendly in an outstanding venue (Pro Football Hall of Fame) to the amazing volunteers, this race is about the runner. Bling is great as well but I'll trade service and substance over ribbon and metal.

The runner support before the race was top notch. Clear and concise communications via social and email.

Check in and EXPO was superb with the venue being the PFHOF and a chance to tour it for free and drastically reduced prices for guests over runner+1. Or just pick up your stuff and get ready for Sunday.

During the race it was spectacular. Water stops every mile on the back end..where was that at Rite Aid when temps hit 85? Every 2 miles on the front end. 2 Gel stops. Aid stations and porto-lets throughout the course.

And around mile 20 you hit the flag display. Great to see the support for service members and veterans.

The safety forces and course volunteers were absolutely incredible. This race is urban/suburban streets and your safety is watched every step of the way. Just run, they have your back. And they also encouraged the runners on. There was a ton of local pride on display and genuine concern for the runners. Several communities are involved. Something I learned later, I thought this was one city putting out their best...nope, several cities coming together in seamless display of support. Nice work.

And the finish... 50 yard line of the Hall of Fame field? Can't get much better.

This is a small race now but it will grow. It won't be Chicago big but the service oriented race organizer, a great link to one of sports iconic locations, and a community that wants you there... sign up early. Every year it grows will make it tougher to get in.

I'll be back. Both as a runner and volunteer, in the future.

Pro football lovers will love this as the expo takes place in the Hall of Fame so you get a free day to tour. Normal entry costs $28 so it offsets some of the marathon fee. The expo was a bit lame but sufficient. Great organization, from buses always available to go to and from the start/finish at the HOF, to the bag check, and particularly the water/gatorade stops which had plenty of volunteers with enthusiasm taking care of the runners. A couple of places for energy gels was nice. Plenty of porta-potties at start and on the course. Timing on electronic boards at various intervals (no pace) and all miles were marked very well. The course was not easy with rolling hills throughout, but mostly run through very pretty residential areas that made things interesting. A very large number of turns onto different streets helped make it interesting as well and should have been a nightmare to close off streets and handle traffic, but it was done superbly and I had no trouble clearly seeing where the route was going. Cops did a good job at the intersections as well as volunteers. There were not as many spectators as I would have expected given that many areas were homes with front balconies and small front yards that are condusive to people coming out, but the people that were there were super. I really liked that fact that the 1/2 and the full marathons ran together for the first half but rather than do the easy thing and have the marathoners do a second loop, they made it great by having the run continue into a different part of town that was a bit flatter in general. The last mile and a half was downhill, but not so steep that you had to break, so one could really make up some time and finish fresh. The finish was into the football stadium with tremendous support that stayed for the later finishers. I liked the microfiber blanket they give out to the finishers, a nice touch. A bit more food at the finish would have been nice as I only saw bananas and water. I did not know there was so much other stuff to see/do in the area, so I think I will be back next year.

Being a football fan drew me to this event but a near perfect execution of the event will keep me coming back next year. There are minor issues to fix, at the start we could not hear the National Anthem or even the start of the race. The expo could have more vendors, excellent security and a special thanks you to Canton Police and the County Deputies, did an excellent job of securing the intersections and were very polite.
Overall great event with room to make it amazing.
I feel there will be a bigger draw if more Hall of Fame players or coaches would be present to start the race and at the expo. Also try implementing more of the NFL theme in the entire event.
I will definitely be driving 10 hours again next year for the 10K and Half.
