I came back in 2017 after a wonderful experience in 2016. Again - terrific experience. This does not disappoint. Awesome organization, super responsive Race Director, fantastic volunteers and support from the start to the finish, easy parking, great all around! Sign me up for 2018.

My fourth marathon. I have family in the area who have talked about this marathon. My training for NYC had me doing 20 miles that day so I figured why not do an extra 6.2 miles get a medal, shirt, and support this race. I walked up and signed up morning of no problem. It was such a laid back vibe. I loved it.

The course was challenging but not impossible. Voulenteers were awesome. Everyone was very friendly. From mile 20 on I had met another runner who I was passing and he was passing me so we were having some fun with it. Views were great. I will run this race again.

Dancing cows made my day!!!

"Great Half Marathon with amazing scenery!" (about: 2016)

This was the inaugural year for the Half Marathon and I am so glad I ran it! I ran with a buddy which is awesome but even if you were running alone you feel like you are among family. The spectators were loud and animated and cheered loudly for any and everyone that passed. The Police kept smiling and also did a bit of cheering. The best part is the accomplishment you feel when crossing the finish line. I attacked the hills and there were many but don't you want to push yourself? This is Goshen at it's best!!!

Hambletonian Marathon is a must run. The weather was perfect. Nice early start time. Organizers could not have made the registration, race day bib pick-up, parking and running any better. Such a great experience. This is New England so there are a few hills. But this is the only Marathon with people dressed as cows and dancing on a hill - really made for an enjoyable hill and a great memory. Signs along some of the other parts brought a smile to my face. Great volunteers and enthusiastic hydration stations.

This was my first marathon and a perfect experience for one who is not so attracted to giant marathon events.

The course offers gorgeous running on country roads and some trails. Lovely and varied surroundings, some rolling hills, with a huge number of supportive, enthusiastic volunteers and locals along the way.

The whole experience was seamless, with easy parking and package pick up, a well-attended course, plenty of fluid/fuel stations and with easy access from NYC.

I'll be back!

Absolutely love this race. Challenging but what 26.2 race is not challenging? By pushing yourself to the limit, that run across the finish line is even more rewarding. The fans are great and the most beautiful scenery you find on any course and they have training runs too! Thank you Race Director Kathleen!!

This was my third year running the marathon relay and it never disappoints! A perfect snapshot of what the HV is about; great people, history, and beautiful fall scenery. This race offers a unique challenge/experience for all runners.

I ran this race yesterday, it was my first marathon and I was excited to run it in my hometown of Goshen NY. I've ran all the loops broken down so I knew what to expect with the hills on the second half. But running them when you're already 16 miles in is a different animal and it crushed my soul I'll be honest. I was going great and under a 4 hour pace until I hit the large hill off Purgatory road, brutal. Then around mile 20 my left knee was barking like crazy, by mile 23 I was worthless and my pace was probably somewhere near the 11:00 minute per mile mark. I made the mistake of stopping for water at mile 24 and it took probably 1/4 mile just to start running again.

At the end of the day my training didn't prepare me for how hard a 26.2 mile race is. 18 miles is not 26.2 miles and my body just broke after after miles 20 and 23. I finished like 4:23:00 or something, well north of my 3:50:00 goal. I should be excited for finishing I guess, but I'm totally bummed at my time. The good news is I'll be running this great course again next year just to redeem myself and run sub 03:30:00 (training starts once the knee heals).

The course is well organized and the volunteers are great. There are stretches where you can feel pretty isolated, this isn't like the NYC marathon with revelers screaming the whole way.
