 "Well done for a first race" (about: 2000)
COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 4 FANS: 4 I concur with most of the previous positive comments. I do have a few negatives. The expo only stayed open until 7PM on Friday, making it kind of a rush to get there in time. This information was printed, but I started reading the instructions on the way to Nashville. Could make things difficult for people who were delayed for any reason. There was no transportation back to the start from the finish line. Since our motel was at the start, we walked back (2.5 miles). They say a little walk is good after a marathon! The worst part was having to run past the finish line with approximately 10 miles left to go! It was painful to see the finishers with their medals, knowing how much longer I had to run. I liked the course, hills and all, but didn't find it especially attractive, except for the park area. The crowd support was excellent, many really fine bands performed, and the volunteers were super. Lots of good stuff at the finish line, too, including space blankets. (However I didn't see the hot dogs). Nice medal, nice shirt design. Kenny Rogers concert was a great finishing touch. I plan to do it again. | |

COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 4 If you are one to always find something wrong with a race, then DO NOT come here because you cannot complain about the organization of this 1st time event. Unbelievable. They thought of everything. Even small things like signs of food/drinks offered at separate tents at the start, where to pick up your gear. It was hilly, and the park was beautiful to run through. Running down Country Music Row was great. Another highlight was Amy Grant at the start! Another nice touch was the meal afterwards: hot dogs or hamburgers, pop, chips, etc. Nice touch! The finish at the Titan stadium made parking easily available. I would definitely recommend this race! | |

 "Hilly course, great support" (General Comments)
COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 The hilly course was a bit challenging at times - I only got a bit bored during a flat, somewhat deserted part between Miles 13-17. There was an abundance of water stations and the volunteers at the water and medical stations were super - obviously very eager for us to have a great race. The event was very well organized - all marathons with as many runners as this one should have the corral starts. I had fun and will definitely run this one again. | |

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 I have read the comments of the other runners on this site, as well as others, and concur that this was one of the best organized, best run, most beautiful marathon courses I have ever run on. I have run on several others and this was the most enjoyable time I had ever experienced. The people of Nashville were extremely friendly. The hotels, cabs, meals and all were very reasonably. The race organizers worked very hard to have a superlative event and succeeded beyond what I ever expected. I enjoyed it so much I have moved my family vacation ahead by a month and a half and am headed to San Diego to run the sister marathon on June 4th. I figure, what the heck, I might as well get three medals for two races, (you get a Golden Note Award for running both). I'll be in Nashville again next year. | |

"Beautiful City - Great organization" (about: 2000)
COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 4 My wife and I ran this marathon together. The race was very well organized, better than I expected for a first time marathon. Plenty of water and support along the course. The course was fair but tough (long gradual uphills and downhills). There is a fairly steep downhill around mile 23 that may cause some pain. The only complaint was that it would have been nice to have music (radio or tapes) when the bands weren't playing. It was a bit depressing to pass with no music but it was great when there was music. The concert afterwards was enjoyable (I wasn't so sure about Kenny Rogers but he put on a very good show as did Colin Raye). It was fun to be able to applaud the winners and to hear their comments on the race. | |

"Extremely well organized -- mod. diff. course" (about: 2000)
COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 Although this was my first marathon, myself and other avid marathoners found this course to be well organized with water and sport drink stops. there were 2 gel stops along w. water -- nothing ran out. Spectators were all over the course - I did this with team in training for the leukemia society, and there were many spectators cheering for the TNT people. there were country bands ~ every mile or mile and a half -- really kept the pace going. |
