"very pleasant experience" (about: 2009)

It was a great day! More water/hydration throughout the course at evenly spaced intervals would be better. Perhaps a few more port-a-pots might be useful. Bands were great, the finish area was great, and the easy access to different areas along the course/trail for spectators was fantastic.

"Good Race!!" (about: 2009)

The race was very well done! It was scenic and flat. There were plenty of water stops both provided from the race and from locals out to help. There were even some sprinklers in the back half! The crowd support was good the whole way through, which was nice. And I always enjoy a course where I get to cheer on the leaders! The course was well marked, easy to follow, and there were always people at the intersections to make sure we could cross safely. I will highly recommend this marathon, as it was a good time despite the heat!! The only suggestion I would make is to have the water stops set up before the race begins, as the leaders had to go through 2 or 3 empty water stations.

"A must-do marathon!" (about: 2009)

I can't say enough good things about this first-year marathon. The organization was first-class; the course was as flat as possible and very scenic; water stops were plentiful, with excellent support personnel; and spectators were vocal and out in good numbers at the road crossings and old railroad station buildings along the course. Excellent Under Armour shirt, nice medal, relatively low entry fee ($50-60), and a nice post-race food spread.

The enthusiasm and encouragement of the spectators and aid station volunteers was AMAZING. Everyone (volunteer, runners, spectators, townspeople) was so nice and friendly throughout this very well run race. I definitely will be back as a participant for many years to come.

This marathon is run along a crushed gravel path. The very flat course is tree-lined, and follows alongside a beautiful river with small towns, farms and beautiful scenery. It is a nature-lover's paradise.

Because it's an out-and-back, you get to see competitors ahead and behind you - both before and after the turnaround.

As a first-time race, this event was a class-act. My first half was 2:30 and second 2 hours; and regardless of my pace, there was adequate water, sports drink and gels. Packet pickup, the race and post-race festivities all appeared free of major glitches.

I am already looking forward to running this marathon in 2010!

"Too few port-a-potties" (about: 2009)

There were too few port-a-potties along the course. Apart from the two actually on the course, the others were too far away. Runners had to go way too far from the course to get to them. Otherwise, for an inaugural, the marathon was well organized.

"Great Event!!" (about: 2009)

What a great first event. You should all be very proud of your hard work. The end result was fantastic. For a first-time marathon, the organizers, the ease packet pick-up, the volunteers, and the spectators were all terrific. I hope you continue to remember Bob Potts in this way. There's something to be said about a small, well organized marathon.

I just got done running the inaugural Bob Potts Marathon, and I will have to say, they outdid themselves in every way. The course is flat and fast, and the finish on the York College track gave it a much "bigger" feel! Spectator support was surprisingly good at the various spectator locations. Hanover Junction was especially good, with a boisterous crowd and a rocking band. Aid stations were plentiful and volunteers were very helpful. No wait for bathrooms inside the gym at the start either. Organization was super, especially for a first-year event - no glitches that I could see. And they topped it off with picture-perfect weather. Yes, I know the don't control that, but I was starting to wonder. Definitely recommended.

This race was well organized and went off without a hitch. I want to thank everyone involved for helping make this first-year marathon a huge success. The finisher's medal was really nice. I recommend this marathon to all.

"Well Organized" (about: 2009)

6-10 previous marathons
COURSE: 3  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 4

The event was well organized, with lots of water stops. I recommend training on the crushed stone of the rail trail, as it is demanding when you're not used to it. The fan support was great; the scenery, was, however the same the whole time.
