This was my first marathon and the organizers of the event made it a great experience. The venue was great and the volunteers did a great job. Looking forward to 2012!

"My fourth, and favorite, marathon!" (about: 2011)

Everything is outstanding. Fun is the theme. The organizers do a great job and the on-course support is fantastic. Volunteers actually patrol the course backwards, especially during the final miles, to check on everyone and offer water and gels. Running three loops sounds awful at first, but it really, really was good. It helped me break the race down into smaller increments and I focused more on the terrain and where I knew I still had to run instead of the mileage. This is a great race!

Can't say enough good about this race. Ran the 10 miler last year, this year the marathon. Beautiful course, very well organized, best medal, and race shirt! Running the marathon this year I experienced the race organizers and others walking the trail between aid stations, they provided water and gels to those in need. This race is really put on for the runners. Plan to run this every year.

"Medoc Marathon continues to impress" (about: 2011)

After missing last year's race due to injury, I was excited to be back at Medoc in 2011.

The emails before race day were always informative and hilarious - I frequently forwarded them to my non-running friends simply because they made me laugh.

The course is challenging - it tests the legs, lungs, and willpower - but you can't find prettier scenery for inspiration. When I was hitting the wall, one of the amazing race staff passed me on the trail and gave me a mini-pep talk - it really meant a lot.

The size is perfect - you can find similarly paced companions, or you can cruise solo and enjoy the silence of the forest. I did a bit of each!

Outstanding organization and volunteer support, fantastic race goodies, and the great attitudes of fellow runners keep me coming back.

The weather was perfect, and the trails through Medoc Mt state park were a nice mix
of gentle hills and flats. The race organizers and volunteers did a great job - very smoothly run.

I had a great time and would love to run it again.

I can't think of any real negatives. This was my first trail marathon and it is definitely harder than road races, but I think more fun.

This was my first marathon and there could not have been a better day. Beautiful and challenging course that was supported by an amazing crew of volunteers. Great people and a great race! Thanks to everyone who helped, without you this accomplishment would not be possible. If you want a challenge but enjoy a wonderful setting then this is your race, and don't forget to camp out.

"scenic and well organized trail race" (about: 2011)

I've never had so much race schwag (very large race medal, long sleeve shirt, race cap, socks, and bag of goodies)! Referring to runners by their chosen trail names makes it fun. Yeah, and the course is scenic. It's a good mix of hills and flat through hardwood forest.

Race consists of three-loops at Medoc State park. There are nine aid station each loop, stocked with gels and other goodies and manned by friendly volunteers. Course has different terrain - rocks, roots, dirt, and my favorite which is soft trail covered with tree needles. Two hillier section but mostly just rolling hills.
I walked away with a nice technical t-shirt (women size!), a finisher's surprise, well-made medal, and a memorable experience. Will definitely do it again.
