I'm not a runner, by any means. But I'm a fan of this race, and I'd do it again.

One of the best organized trail running events in Texas. I participated in Saturday's half marathon.

This was my third Seabrook Marathon, and I keep coming back for the same reasons: soft trails, beautiful and flat course, kind people! In the past, I found the course to be fairly fast, but this year my race was a bit slower. Granted, I did have the flu and coughed my way through 26.2 miles, but between the marathon, a marathon relay, and a half marathon - oh, and trails that are STILL open to the public - it seemed that there might have been a few too many people on the course this year. We had cyclists, walkers, joggers, and hard-core runners all sharing space on soft trails the width of a sidewalk. I got stuck behind slower groups quite often and one time, while trying to pass some walkers, I got nailed by a relay participant coming the other way because he did not want to move slightly to his right to accommodate me. Because the course is 4 loops of what is essentially an out-and-back course, there is two-way traffic. It is hard to tell what place you are in because there are so many people going both ways that you do not truly know who is even running the full marathon or what lap they are on. But if you hate the noise and crowds of big-city marathons and want to run for a good cause with good race support on a very pretty course, Seabrook is the race for you! By the way, it is possible to run a fast race at Seabrook - I PR'ed here in 2010 with a 3:43, and the female winner this year came in with a 3:18. You just have to be aware of what to expect.

A very well organized and supported event. The atmosphere is fun and the post race party (with green beer and tons of food) is great! Even though the course is loops, the scenery is really nice and the course allows for a lot of support from other runners.
