"The course and organization were great!" (about: 2011)

The only down side to the 2011 Marathon was the lack of supporters for a few long stretches of the race. The aid and water stations were well staffed and energetic, but because the course went through some more rural areas the fan support was smaller through those parts.

I felt like a star running my first half marathon! I have been waiting and training for this experience for several months. It's a proud feeling to run across that finish line knowing I've accomplished something that many never attempt. I thank everyone involved for making this such a memorable event! I had a freaking BLAST!

"Amazing support for my first half!" (about: 2011)

Being from Oregon and have moved out here just a few months ago, I found this race to be exactly what I was looking for to get involved with B/CS. The updates from race coordinators, the amazing and hilarious support from the spectators and volunteers, and the course route were all fantastic! It was a beautiful day out and the course was rather flat- perfect for my first half! Without a doubt, I will be signing up for next December with full enthusiasm! Thank you!

"Great Race!" (about: 2011)

Great job on the organization of this race. It was nice to see people standing on their front porches as the runners ran by. It truly was a community effort and being from College Station it made me miss living in a small town.

"Fun, fast course and great support stations" (about: 2011)

4-5 previous marathons | 1 Bryan/College Station Marathon

This was a great race. The course was fun and fast. I loved running thru the campus near the end. Water/gatorade stations were timed well at 1.5 miles and always well staffed. Gummy Bear stations were also very nice! The crowds were smaller than races like White Rock and no bands along the course, but those that were out were very supportive. This was the first year, so I expect that to grow. The swag of a short-sleeve tech shirt and running hat were nice and the medal was really nice. Compare that to 2 long-sleeve shirts (one cotton and one tech 'finisher' shirt) from a race like White Rock. I prefer the 2 long-sleeve but no real complaint there. After race food & drink was nice. The weather was really good so staying outside wasn't bad. I could see where that could be problematic if the weather is bad one year like White Rock was this year. Having access to a shelter like White Rock has in Fair Park would be nice. It would also be great to start developing a pre-race expo if possible.

In a great college town that has needed a race like this for a long time, finally B/CS gets its marathon. It was a great first year. The organizers really did well with the course and the on-course support, which is what really counts when you're out there for 26.2! I plan to do this race again next year and only expect things to improve as it grows from year to year.

The organization of the race was awesome. Great communication from the organizer. The course was interesting and a great mix of the best areas of Bryan, College Station, and the Texas A&M campus. There were great spectators along the course as well.

"Glad I chose this event as my first half marathon" (about: 2011)

I couldn't be happier that I chose this event to run my first half-marathon. It was extremely well organized and a lot of fun! The volunteers were fantastic, cheering us on as we ran, giving us water immediately, and just being over all extremely supportive. If it wasn't for these people, I'm not sure I would have finished as well as I did. I really couldn't ask for a better first half marathon. Thank you organizers, I was extremely impressed with your professionalism and attention to details.

I thought everything was very well done. My only request would be for some kind of bag check for dry gear/etc. Otherwise, very, very well done.

"Great medical staff, thanks for getting me thru it" (about: 2011)

Enjoyed the course, having grown up as a runner in college station, was nice to have course go through Thomas Park, my pm runs in high school, Villa Marie, part of 10 mile loop from campus in college, Central Park, former site of Consol Invite. Most medical i've seen at a race, plenty of med stations along the way, loved the salty gatorade which I think helped me get through the last 3 miles with cramps. Maybe next year provide seating area to enjoy the beer and BBQ.
