"Nice course, great volunteer effort." (about: 2006)

6-10 previous marathons | 1 Walk With Me Marathon
COURSE: 3  ORGANIZATION: 4  FANS: 1

Hopefully next year's event will have more running participants. I ran out of gas late in the marathon and without any other runners around it was very difficult to keep moving much less maintain pace. Felt a little like a 26.2 mile time trial.
Most of the course was asphalt but some was concrete which was very noticable. About 40-50% of the course was shadded.
Weather was great with a little drizzle that turned to sunshine.
Aid stations were awesome.
Volunteer work was awesome.
Course management between walkers and runners was the best I have seen. (no congestion)
T-shirt is an ugly lavendar cotton tie-dye. Not fit for wearing but fits the Eugene hippie theme I guess.

"An amazing experience" (about: 2006)

What a beautiful course! Mostly flat, with enough "bumps" to keep it interesting and use some different muscles. This was my second marathon, nice and low-key and very well organized. Not many spectators - it was more of a quiet, peaceful experience along the river. The course was fast - I took almost half an hour off my last time without really trying! The turn-around worked great. I would have like a couple more volunteers at some crucial turns, but overall it was a fabulous weekend. Oh, and the brownies and minty things were really good. I'll be back next year with more friends! I love that there are three different races with long finish times to accommodate all levels of fitness. Thanks to all!

"No fluids at the finish line." (about: 2006)

We traveled 3000 miles to do this race.
Beautiful course, wonderful weather, brownies and pretzels
as promised at the H2O stops. But my wife and I both got big blisters on our feet and took over 8hrs to finish.
When we got to the finish line, they had boxed up everything. When I asked for fluids for us, the woman said 'We boxed it all up'. When commenting on no fluids ,she said 'there's a water faucet (not a fountain) over there'. And it was in a sink. I asked for a cup, she didn't have any.
My comment is 'for a race that brags of a 9hr time limit, they should have had a drink left for us. Most races have
Gatorade,Cola, and water at the finish line. A real disappointment, then about a mile walk to the Hotel room.
The workers at the water stops were
absolutely wonderful. Our hats off to them and all their efforts.

"Highly recommended!" (about: 2006)

I was tentative running a race called 'Walk With Me,' and was worried I'd be dodging walkers. I was also worried about 2 loops. But IT WAS FABULOUS! The course is gorgeous, the loops manageable because you go one way and then the other. There were a ton of porta potties and plentiful aide stations. It was flat, but interesting enough with little dips and curves to keep you interested. I just loved it. I'll do this one again.

The clowns at the last water stop were a great touch -- even though I didn't jump through their ring for extra credit

"Mellow and fast!" (about: 2006)

Very fast and flat course. Low-key in terms of spectators and participants - fewer than 100 marathon runners. My only complaint is the lack of mile markers - need to invest in signs rather than chalk. I ran this marathon because it's now a local Boston qualifier. Aid stations and volunteers were helpful. Eugene in June has perfect weather. If you don't mind running alone, this is an excellent race.

"A very low-key but incredibly enjoyable marathon" (about: 2005)

I signed up for the Walk-With-Me marathon because I wanted my first marathon to be low-key and laid back, so this marathon was ideal for me. I ran the flat course (most participants are walkers) and enjoyed running along the river. When you reach the 1/2 marathon point you turn around and backtrack for the full marathon, which I didn't mind at all. There aren't very many spectators, but again that is what I wanted for my first marathon so I actually enjoyed being on my own. I will definitely be there next year to run (by that point) my 4th marathon!

"There was a sense of excitement in the air." (about: 2004)

4-5 previous marathons | 1 Walk With Me Marathon
COURSE: 5  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 4

There was a sense of excitement in the air. My opinion is that the Walk With Me Marathon is in a prime location for a marathon and it caters to runners and walkers equally. I have participated in marathons that advertise for walkers but the focus is usually on the runners. The aid stations are placed perfectly and there were plenty of Honey Buckets along the course. Thanks, Tyler, for putting such effort into a wonderful race!

I never thought I would walk in the half-marathon. But after taking a walking class from Tyler Burgess and receiving all kinds of encouragement, I have walked both years and loved it! The course is so beautiful and everything is well organized. I hope to be there again this year.

We had a group of 10 people and all had a great time. Flat but challenging course.
