Charlie knows how to put on a marathon (about: 2001)

Jack T from Central Massachusetts (9/11/01)

Having run more than 30 different marathons, the NM Marathon ranks as one of the best in my book. Race organization couldn't have been better - all the 't's' were crossed and the 'i's' dotted. To witness more than 60 hot air balloons launching (between miles 8-12) as the sun came up over the Sandia Mountains was one of the most breathtaking sites I have ever seen while running. I suspect as word gets out about this A-1 event, race capacity will fill months before the marathon. Well worth the trip.

Best little marathon in the US (about: 2001)

A Runner from Aliso Viejo, CA (9/10/01)

This is the best little marathon in the US. Organization was great. Charles is an exceptional human being. The runners make this race. I've never met such a great group of people. (Sarah, Pam, John and Drinda).
The course is beautiful and the weather was perfect. Lots of downhill. Little or no crowds, but the few that were there were inspiring.
Hope to run this race again and again.

A great marathon to race. The weather is perfect, the organization is great, and course beautiful(especially the hot air balloon display). At each water station, the volunteers called out your name and gave encouragment! It was nice to have a small-sized marathon. I really felt 'taken care of'!

Nice small marathon (about: 2000)

A Runner from Baton Rouge, LA (8/9/01)

Nice downhill course with a good view of the city. With a small organization there is a real 'home' feel. Nice pre-race pasta dinner near the race hotel with several door prizes. Medallions are mini-replicas of petroglyphs- very different from any other marathon medallion!

Great marathon to run!!!!! (about: 2000)

Bud Barela from West Jordan, Utah (5/12/01)

I have run over 50 marathons and this is one of the best. Fantastic view of the city and valley. Fans are few but enthusiastic. Support is fantastic. A must run for any marathoner.

Nice drop in elevation (about: 1999)
Course: 5 Organization: 5 Fans: 3
A Runner from Wisconsin (9/14/00)

A bus takes you out to the starting line, which requires an individual to run back. Great view of the city and surrounding area. You drop in elevation. Nice support throughout the course. Weather can become very warm once the sun comes out.
