"Simply amazing..." (General Comments)

This was my first, but not my last, marathon. The most exciting memory I took from this was all of the people cheering me on the entire way. I am truly looking forward to running this marathon again and again.

Ran my first Marathon here in 1991 then again in 1992, and it was a great event! Weather was very poor the first year but the fans and organization pulled me through. Have been back twice since as a support person, and the finish is very tricky to get to park and see your friends but again the people, location and organization is the best. Getting a little hard to get into and that is a shame, but maybe a plus! I hope I can do it again! Got to love that incline at mile 20+ and the decline at 24.

Before running the TCM I said 'I just want to run one marathon and then I will never run again'. Now I am saying 'HURRY up and open the registration! This baby is going again.' My goal: to beat the guy who ran in the blue Best Buy ad. The only thing you could see were legs, arms and this big blue box covering his (or her) body (If you were at the marathon you know what I am talking about). Yes, I lost to him/her but I finished.
GREAT run, GREAT!!! fans, GREAT organization. See you in October!

My 1st marathon in 1998, ran again in 2000. What a wonderful race, and spectators all along the run. Think I will be there again in 2001!

"Fabulous!" (General Comments)

I ran this marathon in '99 and thought it certainly lived up to its expectations. It's difficult to decribe how beautiful the course is and how wonderful the spectators were -- all 200,000 of them. TCM was the 9th of my 15 marathons, but I rank it as #1, tied with NYC.

"The greatest experience ever!" (about: 2000)

I chose to run this marathon a year ago after volunteering for it....the course is perfect for a 1st time marathoner and has earned its name being the 'most beautiful urban race in America'! Even though it was freezing cold, the fans who came to cheer were the best! Thanks!

This was my first marathon and I selected the location carefully. I was not disappointed. The organization is first class and the course is more beautiful than I could imagine for cities of this size. Highly recommended.

"The Best!!!" (about: 2000)

After 36 completed marathons, I now have a new most-favorite. Minneapolis knows how to throw a party! Everything about the race was first class and done to perfection. It is rare to run an urban marathon and not run through industrial areas or neighborhoods you would not walk through during the day. Twin Cities avoided all of these problems with a truly well laid out and thoughtful course. The aid, crowds, mile marks, and everything else were just great. The only 'complaint' I have is that Hyatt's lobby and eating areas are not smoke free; while I would return to the Marathon in a heartbeat, I would not return to the Hyatt.

"Great Event, but Might Have Overgrown" (General Comments)

(Run in 93) My 1st marathon, and I couldn't believe # of people throughout course cheering EVERYONE on. Whole area supports race. Organization / volunteers darn good. People are treated to (mostly) the best of Mpls-St. Paul. Unfortunately, race now fills 5 months beforehand, forcing a potential first-timer to commit early. Some friends have experienced host hotel (Hyatt) not allowing late check-out. Start can be slow and some pace or club 'packs' can discourteously string across the course. Note to supporters: finish area is crowded with limited nearby parking. Give yourself 15 minutes from anticipated finish time, or secure a camera-ready spot at finish line early (8-9 am).

"A beautiful course with a friendly running crowd." (about: 1999)

COURSE: 5  ORGANIZATION: 4  FANS: 5

This was a beautiful course. I ran a good race. It is runner friendly. It has a lot of spectators and the course organizers are to be commended. It was my first time up in the Twin Cities area. I ranked this very well. But I must say the end was a mess I wasn't prepared for. Have who ever is meeting you stand under a sign or make up a large one themselves. It took us over one half hour to find each other. And the parking was confusing. But knowing this would make all the difference next time.
