A Runner from Minnesota (10/1/2002)
"Beautiful, Supportive, and Well Organized!" (about: 2002)

COURSE: 5  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 5

This personally was my first marathon. I am so amazed at how many people come out to cheer you on! There were maybe 3 minutes of running when there weren't any spectators cheering. That made the marathon so much easier because you had your mind off yourself and on all the action around you. Another thing that was great about the marathon was the beauty of the course. First you get to run downtown through all the big buildings and then onto the wonderful path of the lakes, then it's on to Minnehaha Pkwy. Minnehaha Pkwy was full of people, it had beautiful homes along the way, the creek and the trees around make it pretty. Next Lake Nokomis. Beautiful fairly flat. Then on to the Mississippi river. Running along the river on both sides into St. Paul was gorgeous. Then you approach Summit hill with the mansions and on to the Finish Line at the capital. The marathon was well planned with accurate maps and well thought out plans on how to manage that many people at one time. This was my first marathon so I did not know what to expect. Unfortunately I was sick the day of the marathon and four days prior to the Big Day. I went ahead and decided to run the marathon despite being sick and was basically going to just do what I could do without having to deal with the medical crew. With God on my side and an overwhelming amount of prayers He made it possible to endure and make it happen. Anything is possible when you go through the Lord. WAAAHOOOO!!!!

"start line too crowded and un-organized." (about: 2002)

COURSE: 4  ORGANIZATION: 4  FANS: 5

Great course. Start line was very
conjested and I could not make it up to the 3:30 pacer. Was stuck on a curb until the gates opened. Spectators and volunteers were great. Hard to see some mile markers because spectators were in the way. Thanks for a great course, perfect weather and such a great support team of volunteers and spectators! A beautiful race!

"Spectacular again" (General Comments)

COURSE: 5  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 5

I just finished my 6th TCM and I'm feeling a little down. I have to wait another year to run it again. The TCM may not have the tradition of Boston, the crowd support of NYC or the natural beauty of Big Sur; but it has the best combination of all these attributes. And the finishing stretch from the Cathedral of St. Paul down to the majestic capitol building beats any of those races. Organizers, fans and runners -- keep it up!

"A great start to a marathon future!" (about: 2002)

COURSE: 5  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 5

This was my first marathon, and what a marathon to begin with. From the expo days before to crossing the finish line, what a spectacular event! The TCM group should be applauded. Running my first marathon, it was exhilirating to see and hear such great fan support. Every mile there were hundreds of fans cheering you on. For anyone that has been thinking of doing a marathon, this should be the one you start with. The course if flat, the fan support is great, and the scenery is breathtaking. I will definitely be their again next year!

"I would highly recommed this marathon to anyone!" (about: 2002)

COURSE: 5  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 5

This was my first marathon. I have nothing but praise for the race course, organization, spectators and especially all the volunteers who put in their time to make the event a success. The course was really beautiful and the support along the course from the volunteers to the fans really help the runners finish with a great experience.

"J-Dog will see ya next year!" (about: 2002)

COURSE: 5  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 5

This was my first marathon and I loved it. I'm hooked. The fans really kept me going and when I got towards the end and could see all the people waiting at the finish line, I think I ran the fastest I did all day! I am glad I wrote 'J-Dog' on my shirt cause when all the fans are encouraging you on it keeps your motor running. The weather was perfect and so was the race. I'll be back for more in 2003!

A Runner from Bloomington, Minnesota (9/29/2002)
"This was a great marathon for me!" (about: 2002)

COURSE: 5  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 5

I had a great time throughout this marathon. The weather was cool and overcast. The spectators are fantastic. There were very few spots where there wasn't a group of people cheering us on.

A Runner from Raleigh, NC (6/28/2002)
"Simply Spectacular on all counts" (about: 2002)

COURSE: 5  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 5

This was only my second marathon, but it would be tough to imagine a more scenic, better organized marathon than Twin Cities. Other than a lack of sports drinks later in the race, the organizers did a wonderful job of making race day a great experience from start to finish. Plenty of restrooms and warm hallways to warm up in the Metrodome before the race, and the hot chicken broth at the finish was a blessing. The fans are tremendous--for a relatively small marathon, the crowds are overwhelming. Rarely did you run for more than a few yards without spectators, and in some spots the crowds were huge and very vocal. Parties and music all along the route to take your mind off of the 26.2 miles. I would recommend this marathon to everyone, especially new marathoners.

"Best marathon in America!" (about: 2001)

COURSE: 5  ORGANIZATION: 4  FANS: 5

This IS a fabulous marathon. The course is awesome and scenic. The fans are wonderful. The weather is almost always ideal. The TCM Expo is great fun.

The only negatives I should point out is that they tend to run out of sports drinks for the runners that are midpack. The $50 entry fee is a bit steep too. Last year I forgave them considering their T-shirts were of such high quality but that wasn't the case this year.

My only other disappointment was finding out that TCM 2002 would be in September, not October. Otherwise this is simply the best marathon you can find.
