The race was well organized and everyone was friendly. There were waterpoints every other mile until 10 then every mile after that. It was a cool morning for my Texas-thinned blood, about 35 degrees at the start with a little snow on the ground. It was a fast, downhill course which wound through some beautiful scenery. The spectators and waterpoint volunteers were great along the more secluded miles but I was suprised that there were few in Rapid City. There was also a lot of cross traffic along the last 3 miles once in town which was not well controlled. All in all a great run.

This is a great course with lots of breath taking views. The course starts up in the hills and runs down into Rapid City. This course overall is a very fast course. Much of the course is downhill with only a few minor uphills. The race has water stations at every mile. The people at the water stations are very kind and they do the best that they can to provide you with water or powerade. This course has alot of supporters cheering you on all of the way. The local high school and middle school even take place in it. Every year a group of kids from Stevens High school occupy three water station on miles 10-12. The middle schools often run on a relay team, usually completing the course between 3 and 4 hours. Overall this is one of the best courses I have ever seen.
