"FUN challenging course with great atmosphere" (about: 2016)

The race course is about 25% Hills, some flat sections. A lot on county roads so not much traffic. Some on pavement. The race is small but very well organized. The post race BBQ was great. The race starts at 5PM so you will need a head light by the end of the race one with high lumens. The race director was great. I entered about a week before the race. Driving from Omaha was easy. I would recommend this race without reservation.

This race is one of the best in Nebraska! If you want to run a marathon in Nebraska to see what our state has to offer and to experience what Midwesterners are like, then this is the one for you. The views of the river valley are incredible! The course is challenging with some rolling hills and mostly soft gravel roads. Your entry fee helps to fund activities for the kids who attend Logan View school and the high school kids are out there on course manning the aid stations. Some of the kids even ran to me to fill up my water bottle and they all wished me good luck. Susie is an excellent race director who cares about all the little details that make a small hometown race worth doing year after year. I will keep coming back!

"Quaint small town marathon" (about: 2015)

Really glad we made the trip from Michigan to Nebraska for this marathon. It's a well organized race run by a really nice group of folks. The race director, Susie, personally makes sure it is a great experience for everyone there. The course is exactly how it is described in other reviews. The hills are mostly rollers with a few more challenging ones amongst the corn fields.

There are several races being run at once with everyone finishing at the school we started at. At the last minute, my wife ended up running the 5K which was also good.

Amenities included tech shirt, medal, spaghetti supper and showers after the race. Support along the course was enthusiastic with aid stations being supported mostly by students from the local high school, Logan View.

Long story short.. I'm glad this was the marathon I ran in Nebraska. It's kind of a hidden gem that has the potential to grow into a Labor Day weekend marathon staple.

"Great Run for a Worthy Cause" (about: 2015)

From the beginning marathoner to the more experienced runner, the Logan View Raider Run has something for everyone. It starts with a scenic setting in the Nebraska countryside. The race is run completely along the rural gravel roads of the area. From the rising morning sun to the nearly ready for harvesting fields of corn, you could not ask for a more stunning views to enjoy. The course offers a challenge for the more experienced runners with rolling hills throughout its length. The run is managed by experienced runners and well operated. From the spaghetti dinner to post race goodies and fun and of course the swag, it could not have been done better. The best part of it all is the cause. This race helps the students in this small country school pay for extracurricular activities that they might not otherwise have the funds for. So it goes without saying, the race volunteers are highly motivated and it shows. I personally ran this race with my 13 year old daughter, on her first half marathon. It was a tough run through the hills, but we could not have picked a more challenging yet fun run to do together. The run, the scenery, the people and the day will something we will remember forever.

"Love the Logan View Half" (about: 2015)

98% of this run is on gravel roads, beautiful scenery. This is a hilly course that gives your legs a workout. All facilities are right there at the start and end. Water and Gatorade at each aid station. Shirts and medals are great! There is a sense of accomplishment when you run this half! It's a must! I have run this every year and will continue to run it yearly!

"Exactly What you Would Expect" (about: 2014)

This was a small town race and it was exactly what you would expect. The organization was fine, the water stop volunteers were very friendly, the hills and course were as advertised. Contrary to an earlier comment, I do believe there was one spectator though, who drove from spot to spot. The weather provided some drama with a rainbow and lightning. Cloud cover kept the weather feeling manageable on a day with 70 degree temperatures and 80% humidity. Anyway, it was a fun experience.

"A Hidden Treasure" (about: 2014)

What a great beautiful course! Plenty of rollers, description and profile elevation of course is exact. The hill at mile 25 is a big & long one but managable. I would definitely recommend this marathon to anyone in the 50 States club looking for a Nebraska Marathon.

Pros: Easy to get to, plenty of parking, race starts & finishes at school, you have shelter just in case it's cool in the morning, plenty of indoor plumbing, showers at the finish, great post party, nice medal & shirt, water stops ever 2 miles but if you need some before next stop they had volunteers driving the course with water! The volunteers at the water stops were awesome. They cheered, encouraged you and would sometimes run out to meet you with water or Gatorade!

Cons: No spectators, if you need spectators to get you through a marathon then this Gem of a marathon is not for you.

My goal was to run a 4:45 marathon, so I brought my Ipod to listen to. I ended up running & conversing with several people throughout most of the marathon. Before I knew it I was at the finish line and had listen to my music maybe for only 1 mile.

Thank you race direct Susan and your volunteers for making this a memorable first class marathon. Wish I could have hung around a little longer after the race, but had to catch a flight. One day I will be back, hopefully it won't get too big.

"nice race with HILLS" (about: 2014)

11-50 previous marathons | 1 Logan View Raider Run

Very friendly, well-organized, small-town. All country roads; 0 spectators, friendly volunteers. RD gave 1/2 hour early start (email or just ask at Expo?). Flat, rolling, and also HILLS (long, steep). Gravel, dirt, asphalt roads (gaters?). 1st aid station was at 4.25 miles (which is too far!); rest were 1.25-2.5 miles apart; one aid station was a family, and they were GREAT! cheering, SO friendly, bananas, oranges.. Fremont is 20 miles awaylots of hotels and restaurants. Showers afterwards but also bring soap and shampoo (not just towel as the website says). Post-race: yogurt, chocolate milk, bananas, oranges, cookies, brownies PLENTY for everyone! RD answers emails right away; they even made me gluten-free pasta for the free spaghetti dinner!. For a good cause for the school, so different school groups did the aid stations.

"Great Low Key Race" (about: 2013)

11-50 previous marathons | 1 Logan View Raider Run
COURSE: 5  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 3

This is a very well organized low key run. It started and finished at the Logan View High School with very convenient and plentiful parking and runners were able to use the school showers after the race. The course was through the nearby countryside so it did not lend itself to abundant spectators but the volunteers at the aid station were very enthusiastic and friendly. The course had some rolling hills but nothing too terrible. I would recommend this race to anyone looking for a smaller race to run.

"Great Experience - Well Organized Race" (about: 2013)

11-50 previous marathons | 1 Logan View Raider Run
COURSE: 4  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 4

I echo the positive comments from the others! This is a hidden treasure of an event that will only get more popular. Very well organized, very enthusiastic and committed volunteers were great and my entire experience was quite memorable! The low number of spectators for me was actually a big plus as I found myself at times in awe of how serene the course and the run was. Big things like logistics being easiest ever, friendly people, several other races as options such as a 5 miler my wife said was great and a half that seems to be a gem as well and probably worth the trip alone. Check them out! Little things taken care of too, like ice, if you wanted, in your water at the aid stations and members of school clubs at each station being just terrific. Band, FFA, Cheer, to name a few. Course as said below has some hills but nothing that should deter you. I'm slow and never felt one bit that anyone was impatient with my progress. The crushed gravel roads were perfect partly because we benefited from rain the preceding night so there was absolutely no dust. Tips: Gaiters, sunglasses and sunscreen to reapply - not much shade, bring your gels for early in the race. I didn't carry water or GPS or music or phone. We stayed in Fremont a few miles away and enjoyed the downtown and the area and quick trip to the start. As marathons and trips go this is a bargain and the least expensive organized marathon trip I've ever done.
