"Fox Valley Marathon, best race ever." (about: 2013)

I ran this full marathon last year and again this year. I had to do it again because doing the training runs and then running the race was one of the most life changing experiences of my life last year. And I was not disappointed! This year was JUST as much fun as last year. The course is beautiful, the volunteers are amazing.

"Hometown race feel, large-scale race execution!" (about: 2013)

This race sticks to it's roots of being a 'hometown experience' and it's great to see the whole community getting involved, but the execution of the race details are nothing short of a large-scale race expectation every detail is thought of and taken care of with the utmost professionalism. It shows that this is a race FOR runners, put on BY runners!

"Best first half-marathon ever!" (about: 2013)

One of the best experiences of my life! I LOVED how the announcer announced my name as I approached the finish line! That, for me, was one of the best things about it, especially since it was my first half! I felt like an absolute rockstar!

For me this half marathon was part of celebrating my 80th birthday - coming in at 3:09 at a pace of 14:29 was a real thrill for me -plus the excitement of a very well run race and a beautiful course, not to mention a fine weather day, all created a marvelous day and experience - so much so that I've decided to come back every year for the next 10 years!

"Great race with perfect weather!" (about: 2013)

First Marathon
COURSE: 5  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 5

The Fox Valley Marathon is a great flat race with amply amount of volunteers. The weather, spectators and volunteers were all supportive throughout the race. It was motivating to hear spectators calling out your first name (shown on number bid) with words of encouragement.

"awsome place" (about: 2013)

This is a great race for the price. The people who put this on are super. This is a PR course. Why do you want too pay 165 for a marathon and pay 65 for this one you can get your pr right away? Food is great awsome finish line. Great job

"Great Fall Marathon" (about: 2013)

This was the first time that I have ran this race. It was not what I expected at all. At first, I thought that it might be a little boring due to there not being big crowds of people cheering, but I was completely wrong. During the race you run through beautiful trails and see vast amounts of beautiful scenery. For me, this really relaxed me. I didn't feel the pressure of running a marathon. It was more like going on a Sunday morning jog. To sum it up: wonderful. I would do this race again and recommend it to friends. Also, the medal was really neat. So much detail!

"A great scenic race through a beautiful area!" (about: 2013)

I have run 8 marathons now and this was by far the smallest one. What a great experience it was to be in small communities. However, I was very suprised by the hills. It was sold in promotional material (and by the pacers at the expo) as a flat course. No - Chicago is flat...this is not flat! Yes, Texas and STL races are hilly and this is flat by comparison - but to not talk about the hills enough doe a disservice to others in the future preparing for it. Well prepared - you'll do great and want to come back!

"Fantastic first marathon!" (about: 2013)

I don't have any other full marathons to compare this one to, but I absolutely adored it none the less. The race was well staffed, the course is absolutely gorgeous, and there were spectators to boost spirits through out mixed with some stunning scenery to give the race an air of serenity during the stretches where the runners were alone. FV26 was my first marathon and will certainly not be my last and I would absolutely run this course again. Fantastic!

"Wonderful Race!!" (about: 2013)

This race had so many things worth talking about. Hotels are cheap especially for what you got. The course and weather were wonderful. It got pretty sunny which would have been warm but this course is almost entirely in the shade so it was perfect! It was well organized, beautiful course and the crowd support was amazing!! I have never had so many random strangers treating me like I was their family member. It made the race that much better.
