"Wonderful race" (about: 2010)

You should be proud of this event. I have done 8 other marathons, but this was the most challenging... HILLS!!

I gave a 4 for the spectators only because there were so few along the course.

Suggestion: the water stops had warm water towards the end due to the heat; this may be an area for improvement.

Thanks for a great time!

"Stillwater Marathon is my new favorite marathon!" (about: 2010)

Very well organized, with plenty of water stops and great crowds. It was easy to follow your runner, and there were plenty of finish line goodies. I'll be back to run with the local MN pacers in 2011, for sure. I was super impressed by how many pacers this race offers to us runners too. This is a race where your dollar goes a long, long way. I liked the hotel discount on top of the low-cost entry fee to run 26.2 miles with so many friendly runners. I can't wait to run Stillwater again in 2011.

"Nice course; great organization. Glad I ran!" (about: 2010)

Although there were some significant hills on the course, I really liked how it was laid out. It had a nice combination of quiet, rural areas, as well as spectator-filled neighborhoods. The gradual descent over the last five miles was great, as was the finish line along the river. The water stops were plentiful during the second half of the race, which I was thankful for since it was a warm day. Shuttle buses to the start were on time, at least for us, and there were a lot of port-a-johns at the start area. Thank you! We did have to wait awhile for a shuttle bus on the return. Not sure why that was. Overall, it was a nice marathon to run.

I have recently run the San Francisco and Napa Valley Marathons, and the Stillwater Marathon rates right up there. I really enjoyed how the course was laid out; we were able to see the river, McKusick Lake, and even the old prison!

I have run a couple of dozen full and half marathons, and very few have been as well organized as the Stillwater Marathon. I have never had people ride by on bikes and offer ice (which was greatly appreciated)! Again, great race, and the organizers should give themselves a pat on the back!!!!

"Average Marathon with Average Perks" (about: 2010)

Typical marathon with just average perks and average spectators. I would not suggest running this marathon again. The pace team was average at best, and my pacer missed his mark.

I ran the half marathon last year in Stillwater and very much looked forward to this year's race. I was not disappointed. The course was very challenging, but the spectators kept us motivated the whole way. Thanks to all of the organizers for putting together another great event.

"The Minnesota Pacers Pace Team Rocked This year!!!" (about: 2010)

I ran the 2010 Stillwater Full Marathon and had the best run ever! The Minnesota Pacers were super awesome and were all full of enthusiasm and lots of motivation. If you want to get a PR, come run Stillwater with the Minnesota Pacers!! It was a great weekend in Stillwater, with so many awesome activities surrounding the races - and the folks of Stillwater made us all feel like rock stars! I would highly recommend this race to anyone who enjoys running with the best of the best pace team in America! The expo had a ton of cool features, and the race itself was full of aid stations, good crowds, and super friendly volunteers. I'll be back to run Stillwater in 2011. I can't wait til Memorial Weekend in Stillwater once again....

"Nice Course, Nice Organization, Bad Weather" (about: 2010)

4-5 previous marathons | 1 Stillwater Marathon
COURSE: 5  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 2

I ran the second annual Stillwater Marathon this morning. We had a relatively quick start. I think they need to route the transport buses differently since they were fighting their way through the runners prior to the start.

Overall, the race was really nice. The water stops were efficient, and they were very supportive. The course is definitely hilly, and under better circumstances manageable (it was really warm for this race: started at 70 and peaked at 83, and it was also a little humid). Crowd support was scant, but that may be because of the holiday weekend. Overall, a nice race in a beautiful city. I think they need to move the race back a couple of weeks to avoid days like today.
