My husband and I participated in the 10-miler. I've never done a trail run before and I loved it. We're already signed up for another one on the first of November. Loved it!

Well organized! Course, well marked! Volunteers were fabulous! Shirts, top-notch! Finisher's hat was very nice and very much appreciated! Fun seeing Medoc along the race! It was obvious that a great deal of thought, planning and cooperation went into this event!

Only one suggestion: perhaps have a choice of Pepsi or Mountain Dew for the marathoners at an aid station near the end. Just a thought!

Great job, RMEC.

"Super trail race; really enjoyable!" (about: 2008)

My husband and I participated in the 10-miler event of the Medoc Trail Marathon and we really enjoyed it! When we registered, we received a personalized e-mail from the race director thanking us for registering, and the communication between then and race day was very good.

This was our first trail race and the course was enjoyable and challenging - definitely more exciting than your average pound-the-pavement marathon. Some of the marathoners were upset that their route was not marked clearly enough, but for those of us on the 10-mile course, we were able to find our way relatively easily.

CUTE medal and "Medoc" monsters peeking out at various points in the course. After the race, there was a generous pizza lunch. Great race; we are both happy that we did it and will be back next year!

...for providing such a wonderful experience! My husband and I ran the 10-miler and it was fabulous! Running the trails was an adrenaline rush, challenging and rewarding all at the same time. We are looking forward to the race again next year!

I actually ran the 10-mile course, and this was my first trail run. My husband and best friend did this race and we all had a blast! It was beautiful, though I could not look around much for fear of tripping!!! :) We are definitely planning on being back next year, God willing. The shirts are awesome - a nice change from the traditional cotton tee! I am glad I had my own water bottle - really needed that. Thanks for such a pretty and fun morning!

"Great Trail Marathon! Excellent Job!" (about: 2008)

I've run over 100 marathons and over 1,000 races, and this was one of the best organized races I've ever participated in. From picking up the race packet to attending the post-race festivities, everything was first-class.

This was definitely a race for the runners! Each marathon runner received a long-sleeve technical t-shirt, awesome medal (one of the best ever), and a CoolMax finisher's hat. In addition, the post-race refreshments included pizza, danishes, cookies, candy, and a lot of other goodies! Great for reloading after a tough run.

As far as the course, as people have mentioned, it's a three-loop course similar to a figure eight with each loop consisting of two smaller loops. The course is challenging but not too difficult. Runners encounter roots, rocks, steps, bridges, and a couple of good climbs. And to top it off, you get to repeat the fun three times!

All in all, an EXCELLENT race that I would recommend for all runners.

This was an all-around great race. You could see all of the planning that went into it. The course was scenic and challenging, the race well-supported. The volunteers were fabulous.

Well-run, especially for an inaugural event. The course was scenic and VERY well marked (and this is coming from someone who has the habit of getting lost on trail runs). The aid stations were well stocked. The volunteers were awesome - very positive, encouraging and friendly. There weren't a lot of spectators (it's a trail run), but the few waiting on family/friends to finish and the volunteers along the course and at the finish line were supporting the runners. I have to say it again: the volunteers really did an incredible job! Overall, a fun event.

"Great Race!!" (about: 2008)

First Marathon

This was my 1st marathon, but not my 1st trail race. I thought the aid stations were great - not too close together where you feel like you're aid station hopping, and the people were so friendly! The race went off on time, and the medals and shirts were awesome - I loved them!!! The course was well marked, and I liked the loops - it helped me pass the time. The location was easy to get to, as were the start and finish. The trails had a variety of terrain, and were clean and well groomed. I couldn't imagine what more I'd want from a trail marathon. I can't wait for next year!!

Beautiful scenery, rocks and roots - and three loops. Great volunteer staff and well marked course.
