I've been trail running for the last 2 years in Colorado - trail running in mountains at 10,000+ ft. I can honestly say that I was pleasantly surprised by the difficulty of this course! I fully anticipate this course being one of my best training runs for ultra marathons. It was great to be running on home turf. Lots of fun, I will definitely be back for more next time I'm in town!

I have run the Fallsburg marathon at least 5 times and I have never been disappointed. There are some technical sections in this trail so I do not recommend it for first time trail runners, especially since they continue to make the course tougher every year. Great race support and awards, but carry your own water as there is a 6 mile stretch with no outside contact. Wish they had more food for the later finishers but I will continue to come back. For a small entry fee you get a medal, beach towel, sweatshirt, post-race food, and they even send you pictures in the mail a couple of weeks later...at no extra charge. Seriously. No other race sends you race pictures! Love this race.

This was my first Old Farts marathon. I was semi prepared for a hard course. It far exceeded my expeditions. It is very challenging but lots of fun. Come prepared to work very hard and get dirty. This is not your ordinary trail marathon, more like a 26.2 mile obstacle course. You might even lose a shoe in the mud pits. Best part is the race director. He did a great job at organizing and marking the course, so even I could not get lost.

A 13.1 mile loop so difficult, you have to do it a second time to make sure you didn't hallucinate the whole thing. This year's addition of the Dorothy's Ridge and the Witch Hill made this race insanely more challenging, not that it was easy in previous years. Coach Dan and the rest of the Old Farts consistently provided fun and challenging routes for the concrete-phobic amongst us. I can't wait for next year to see what tortures await.

This marathon was crazy hard but very rewarding. Very well organized and very friendly. I recommend training on dirt trails before running this one. Well worth your time to experience this race!I will most likely run this again. Plan on mud, ropes, small streams and climbing on hands and feet.

I really love this marathon..I enjoy the aid station guys who call me 'Sparty' and my brother 'the Wolverine'..It is a tough course but that's what makes it so great..I enjoy the hill names and I found myself saying to the hill, 'it's just you vs me Chuck!'..I will return for 2014..See ya then, Chuck!

Hands down the best marathon ever. I loved it. It was the hardest marathon ever, but the best marathon and I want to do it again.

The race really was a lot of fun. It was very tiring but the sense of accomplishment when finishing made the whole event very satisfying. The mud and hills were fun as well as all the signs along the course.(Well-the hills were not as fun the 2nd time through.) Coach puts on a heck of a marathon and it is well worth the trip from Ohio. It just really was an overall cool race and I would strongly recommend this race to anyone!

This race is amazing. The course changes year to year, and it's the most challenging, yet fun experience I've ever had. The race director, Coach Dan is awesome and makes this race interesting every year. You never know what to expect. I plan on running it next year as well.

It's hard to accurately describe this race. It's a challenging course, with hills, mud pits, a beautiful scenery. The camaraderie is unrivaled, the encouragement, support and generosity of the race director, all volunteers and other runners is the best ever! This is my 3rd year running this race, and as much pain as I am in afterwards, I always feel the warm glow of accomplishment. This race isn't for beginners, yet it's what I chose as my first, and I am so glad I did! It's hard, but there will never be a higher 'high' than running across that finish line. My wife ran it with me this year, and although it kicked our butts, I will NEVER regret that we did it! I love this race enough that I'm willing to travel from Florida to Michigan, just to run it! I hope to do it again next year! :)
