"Good to see this back downtown" (about: 2005)

I ran this yesterday as my tenth marathon. It was great to see the Rochester Marathon return to downtown after a fifteen year hiatus. The marathon was very well-run. Nice course, great variety, and fairly flat. The crowds were a little thin in spots, but really great at many points along the course. Really good running along Park Ave past the restaurants late in the race -- fans were very supportive. Fun to finish inside Frontier Field.

"NOT flat, GREAT support, GOOD Start" (about: 2005)

Flat-yeah right-maybe if you are comparing it to the Adirondacks! I trained flat cause the course was advertised to be flat. I won't make that mistake again. Yes again. Despite the misadvertisement, busted-up roads on the course under construction, narrow passages w/two-way running traffic for all 3 races (1/2, relay, and full marathons) and too many absent mile markers.. I would do this again. After all this was their first marathon in a while. The support was phenominal (Albany could use a lesson from you)! The cheerful audience and helpful, enthusiastic volunteers made it all worth while. I will come better prepared for your hilly course next year.

"Excellent inaugural race" (about: 2005)

Even though I was a bit disappointed with my time, I thought this was an outstanding race. The course was great with a surprising number of spectators for a rainy morning in Rochester. Running through the city I live in was incredible. The finish was especially exciting, ending with a lap around Frontier Field with many people sitting in the stands cheering. The only negative was the confusion getting the timing chip. They really need to give this out with the packet to avoid having 1700 people waiting in line. Otherwise it was very well organized. I can't wait to run next year!
