This is a great course if you like a nice flat marathon and would like to qualify for Boston!

This is a great marathon. Well staffed support stops which made the race so much better.

This was my first year to do this race and I wasn't disappointed. Great organization and volunteers with aid stations about every mile. Really not as scenic as I thought it may be but it sure beat just a plain country road. The double out and back was not bad. Always fun to see the other runners and encourage each other. Almost entirely flat. If it wasn't for the wind there would have been some amazing times posted. Post race food at the school included pizza, chili and more. Not much in way of crowd support but it is on a very low populated country road. I'll do this one again!

This was my third running of this event. I like the Cotter course so much more than the M.H. one. What a fun event...lots of civic pride went into this event from the Police to the Volunteers. I like the awards as well. I'll be back.

I went into the race a bit hesitant about doing the out & back type course...twice! As it turned out, though, I didn't mind it at all. Very flat, plenty of aid stations, not many spectators, but that's fine by me. A sound system at the starting line would've made it seem more organized, but the volunteers were so helpful. The post-race meal & shower access was very welcome.

very hospitable people. lots of aid stations and very nice folks. hated having to run THROUGH the finish at the half..it is so cruel. better to have a cone out on the road. hard to hear your chip beep at the finish mat and have to go back out...
other than that, i liked the race. good cause and i felt the race organizations passion for the people of kenya.
nice job with pasta dinner and post-race meal. plenty left for even we slower folks.

"Great small race for a great cause" (about: 2010)

This was a well organized race. I was not sure how I would like the new out-and-back-twice course, but it was good. It is run on a small road in the country, so there are not huge crowds cheering, but the volunteers were great at the aid stops. The medal was nice for such a small race. Best of all was the cause: they raised money to build water wells in Kenya. Very cool.

"Great Race, Great People, Beautiful Area" (about: 2010)

First Marathon
COURSE: 4  ORGANIZATION: 4  FANS: 2

Great Race:
Easy terrain; the start was a bit tight, which I heard a few participants fussing about... but otherwise no issues.

Great People:
Can't say enough about the organizers. Courteous. Very helpful and cheerful. Everyone was having a fun time.

Beautiful Area:
If you love the great outdoors, rivers, and lakes, this is the place to relax before and after the race.

Good job to all. See you next year.

"PR Course!" (about: 2010)

First Marathon

I ran the half this year and have done a lot of long runs along this course over the last 13 years. I don't know of a faster course (completely flat and straight), and as the race popularity grows, the number of spectators will grow too. And by the way, the proceeds go to a good cause.
