   Morocco's Adil Annani wins Beppu-Oita Marathon (IAAF)
Adil Annani of Morocco won Sunday's Beppu-Oita Marathon with a time of 2:10:15. Two Japanese runners took a close second and third, Seiji Kobayashi finishing in 2:10:38 and Keita Akiba, running his first marathon, in 2:10:53. Akiba's marathon debut was faster than that of Hiromi Taniguchi, who went on to with the Olympic gold medal after running a 2:13:16 in his first marathon at Beppu Oita.

   Adachi wins debut marathon at Beppu-Oita (Pakistan Daily Times)
Japan’s Tomoya Adachi slipped past Elijah Mutai of Kenya near the 24 mile mark to win his debut at the Beppu-Oita marathon on Sunday. Adachi, 22 had faded to nearly 200 meters behind Mutai before catching him and hitting the tape in two hours 11 minutes 59 seconds. Rachid Kisri of Morocco finished second in 2:13:07, followed by Scott Westcott of Australia third in 2:13:36. Mutai, who led for nearly all of the race failed to finish in the top 10.

   Marathon debutante wins Beppu-Oita Marathon (IAAF)
Twenty-two year old Tomoya Adachi, who was not an invited elite athlete, won the 2008 Beppu-Oita Marathon with a 2:11:59 in his marathon debut. Rachid Kisri from Morocco finished second in 2:13:07 and Olympic team hopeful Scott Wescott from Australia finished third in 2:13:36 missing the Olympic team qualifier by over three minutes. Adachi plans to train harder for his next marathon.
