Kevin Brinegar won the Gulf Beaches Marathon in 2:38:55, while Lisa Valentine won her fourth consecutive women's title, finishing in 2:58:57.

   Woman Repeats in Gulf Beaches Marathon (St. Petersburg Times)
This year's Florida Gulf Beaches Marathon was the slowest run in it's history due to low 70's temperatures and extreme humidity. Lisa Valentine managed to win again in the women's race in 3 hours 9 minutes. Jimmy Villalobos won the men's title in 2:51:27.

   10K Winner Blames Slow Time on Work in Gulf Beaches Marathon Event (St. Petersburg Times)
Key Largo local Dianne Cayll Skiles is the winner of last weekend's Florida Gulf Beaches 10K race. She managed to beat every single one of her personal best records even with the slow pace of 41 minutes and 17 seconds. She was only two minutes ahead of Patty Farese of St. Petersburg.

Mitzi Daugherty and Celeste Harjehausen are two examples of runners from out of state. They are coming all the way from Anchorage, Alaska.    A 1st for wheelchair winner (St. Petersburg Times)
Former race car driver Renzo Martinez, originally from the Dominican Republic, won the wheelchair race in the Gulf Beaches Marathon in Clearwater, FL this past Sunday. Martinez has been paralyzed from the waist down since 1985. Martinez says his third-place finish in the Disney World Marathon three years ago helped motivate him for his win.

   Unhappy with his initial pace, Toronto man picks it up, wins Gulf Beaches Marathon (St. Petersburg Times)
In its second year, the Gulf Beaches Marathon in Clearwater, Fla., has a new record. Stan Trudeau, 42, of Toronto crossed the finished line in 2:37:12 on Sunday.
