Rono repeats, pushing pace in final miles in Ocean State Marathon
(The Providence Journal) 32 year old Kenyan Elly Rono won his second Ocean State Marathon in two years. In a steady drizzle Rono's winning time was 2:14:48. Using a much feared hill near the end of the course to his advantage Rono made his push there. He pulled ahead of James Karanja and Gilbert Rutto to finish strong. | ||

Brooks Pharmacy Ocean State Marathon: Elite Group Leads Record Field
(Brooks Pharmacy Ocean State Marathon web site) A formidable group of elite international athletes will lead a record field of over 2000 competitiors in the eighth annual Brooks Pharmacy Ocean State Marathon to be run from Warwick to Providence, R.I., on Nov. 12. Among the racers is last year's champion, Jacob Kirwa of Kenya, 24, who ran 2:14:54 to set a course record. Total prize money for the race is $100,000 |
