CEO of Competitor Group has changed the date of the Rock 'n' Roll San Antonio Marathon from December 8 to November 17 to avoid a conflict with the Dallas Marathon.

   San Antonio Marathon to make mark (San Antonio Express News)
The San Antonio Marathon has made a mark on St. John's Lutheran Church. The church has moved services to 5 pm on Saturday night in hopes of attracting out of town runners and spectators from the San Antonio Marathon. The marathon start close to the church on Sunday morning and usually impedes those traveling to church.

   Kenyans Lead Way In San Antonio Marathon (Express News)
Kenyans finished one-two-three at the San Antonio Maraon. Edward Kiptum was the winner in 2:24:39, nearly three minutes ahead of Kibet Cherod. Hellen Rotich was the winner in the women's field.

   San Antonio Selected For Newest Rock 'n' Roll Marathon (San Antonio Business Journal)

Liza Hunter-Galvan not only won the women's division of the San Antonio Marathon of the Americas, but she turned in her best performance over a 26.2-mile course and the second-fastest winning women's time in the 29-year history of the event.

   'Clydesdales' Get Their Moment at San Antonio Marathon (San Antonio-Express News)
San Antonio Marathon hosted the 2002 USA Clydesdale and Filly Naional Championship Races along with its regular event. Eric Kobrine, a 32-year-old competitor in the 190-210 pound division, ended up with a victory in 2:49:42. Texas woman Alicia Mein and Sarah Lough crossed the finish line together, winning the Filly national title in 3:59:59.

   Martinez is Marathon's Man in San Antonio (San Antonio-Express News)
Facing a difficult time both at the U.S. boarder and in travel to San Antonio's marathon this weekend, Mexico's Juan Martinez finally won the 28th annual event in 2:23:46. Russian Albina Gallyamova finished as the top female with a time of 2:46:26.

   San Antonio Race Begins, Ends Near Alamodome (San Antonio-Express News)
An estimated 1,500 runners ran in the 28th annual San Antonio Marathon. The event weaves through the city's downtown and central streets and Brackenridge Park, beginning and ending near the Alamodome. The men's and women's winners received $2,000 and a gold ring. Winners of last year's marathon were Russians Sergey Karasev and Albina Garryamora.

   Runnin' Russians set pace at San Antonio Marathon (San Antonio Express News)
Sergey Karasev Russia won Sunday's San Antonio Marathon in 2:28:11 despite having to maneuver through a troll hole while to avoid waiting for a freight train. Another Russian, Albina Gallyamova, took the women's field in 2:50:17. Both Karasev and Gallyamove hail from St. Petersburgh, but now live and train in Austin, TX.
