   Huge lead leaves little in doubt at Lakefront Marathon (Milwaukee Journal Sentinel)
Just over 2,750 runners showed up to race the Lakefront Marathon. Brent Alexander wasted little time showing who would be the best runner. He left the field at mile 13 and went on to win with a personal best of 2 hours 28 minutes and 24 seconds. Mark Manz would cross in 2 hours 32 minutes and 31 seconds for the silver.

Kris Hinrichs, race director for Lakefront Marathon, denied Jason Pisano an early start option of 5 am for the Lakefront Marathon. Pisano, who is physically challenged, stated that he would need the extra time to complete the 26.2 mile race ahead of the 2:30 pm start.

   85 Year Old Set to Run 100th Marathon at Lakefront Marathon (WTMJ 620)
Paul Gionfriddo has run a marathon in all fifty states and, at the age of 83, he will run his 100th race at Milwaukee's Lakefront marathon where it all began. Gionfriddo began running marathons when he was 60 and could run a 7 minute mile. He has slowed to 12 minute miles but still puts in 20 to 30 miles per week.

Dick Beardsley will headline the expo speaker line up at the Milwaukee Lakefront Marathon. Beardsley will discuss his addiction to pain pills and hopes to encourage young people to stay clear of addictions. He will also be speaking about his running and life experiences at the expo.

   Lakefront Marathon reaches entry limit; closes registration (Milwaukee Journal Sentinel)
The Lakefront Marathon reached it's expanded capacity of 2,750 and closed registration 10 days earlier than the 2007 edition of the race. Race Director Hinrichs states that people come to the race for its smaller crowds and scenic course. The increase of 250 entrants alloted for this years race seems to be an annual adjustment for the race. Hinrichs stated that the course will not generally allow for huge increases in numbers without some adjustments.

34-year-old Randy Damkot won the Lakefront Marathon with a time of 2 hours 29 minutes 4 seconds on Sunday.

   Lakefront Marathon winners cruise (Milwaukee Journal Sentinel)
Damkot won the Lakefront Marathon for the fourth time, finishing in 2 hours 26 minutes 7 seconds, almost 7 minutes faster than second-place Rick Stefanovic (2:32:54) of Milwaukee. Salazar-Ohst (2:52:24), competing in only her second Lakefront Marathon, was even more dominant, finishing a full 9 minutes ahead of the second-place woman, Ann Heaslett (3:01:33) of Madison.Fedotov's winning time of 2 hours, 12 minute, 40 seconds beat runner-up Ezael Tlhobo of South Africa by a mere three seconds. Just 13 seconds separated the first six placers in the tightest group finish in the event's 19-year history.
