Forty-seven University of Texas San Antonio community members were tracked at the Rock n Roll San Antonio Marathon this past weekend. The average age was thirty-five. The UTSA Wellness Program plans on making it an annual event.

San Antonio marathon easily exceeds expectations

Over 24,000 participants enjoyed the festivities at the San Antonio Marathon Weekend. Meschack Kirwa of Kenya pulled away to win the overall title in 2 hours, 14 minutes and 38 seconds. Romanias Nuta Olaru won the womens title with a time of 2 hours 28 minutes and 53 seconds.

Kenyan marathoner plans to honor friend in San Antonio Marathon

Margaret Okayo has been plagued over the last two years with tendon injuries. She has held course records at Boston and New York Marathons. Okayo will make the trip to San Antonio as a return to running and to honor long time friend Mike Long who passed away last summer of an apparent heart attack.
