Richard Kessio, 37 from Kenya, pumped his fist in the air when asked to describe his final push to win the Mississippi Blues Marathon in just over 2 hours and 20 minutes.

Matthew Manning completed his first marathon and won the inaugural Mississippi Blues Marathon in a time of 2:45.53. Manning says he would like to have practiced on the course a few more times to help prepare him for the cramps that he experienced.

The inaugural Mississippi Blues Marathon, Half-Marathon and Kids Run had a great turn out. Atene Reta of New York won the men’s race in 2:25:01. Janet Cherobon, of Lawrenceville, Ga., won the women’s race in a 2:48.37.
