		Marathon effort well worth it (Pocono Record) The "Run for the Red" Pocono Marathon, now in its third year, gives the entire Pocono community a chance to support their friends and neighbors through this worthy agency's relief fund as the proceeds goes to the American Red Cross of Monroe County. The Red Cross performs important duties in fulfilling its mission to serve victims of disasters and emergencies. Recent years have hit the agency's funds hard.
		Marathon depends on its helpers (Pocono Record) Run for the Red marathon relies on volunteers. With about four hundred volunteers this year, there are fifteen to twenty people at each water stop alone. Many volunteers have come back year after year.
		Three elite runners entered in Run for the Red Marathon (Pocono Record) Defending Champion Justin Gillette will be running the 2008 Run for the Red Pocono Marathon. Gillette will be joined by 2006 champion Solomon Too and US Olympic Trials participant Michael Wardian. Race director Bob Werts said there were over three hundred ninety entrants, with another two hundred signed up for the 5K event.
