   Records for 50K, Attendance Fall at Rock n' Roll Marathon (Arizona Republic)
P.F. Chang's Rock 'n' Roll Arizona marathon set a registration record on Sunday with 34,800, with an additional 3,300 participating in the Kids Rock 1-mile.

   Cox's 50km Bid Upstages Marathon Winners in Phoenix (IAAF)
While Josh Cox fell short of the 50km world record, Moses Kigen of Kenya won the Arizona Rock 'n' Roll marathon on Sunday, and Ukraine's Olena Shurkhno took the women's competition. Cox, who was hampered by illness, ended up with an American record of 2:47:17.

Josh Cox, who ran his first marathon in 1999 at the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon in San Diego, and was a contestant on The Bachelorette in 2005, will try to win the P.F. Chang's Rock 'n' Roll Arizona Marathon on Sunday. He will then run 5 more miles on Arizona State's track, to try and beat the unofficial world record in the 50K, 2:43:38. The record has stood since 1988.

The slowing economy does not seem to be slowing the entries for the Rock 'n' Roll Arizona Marathon. The race will host more than 33,000 finishers on January 18th which will keep the event at the top of the list of the worlds largest marathon and half-marathon combination events.

The Sixth annual Rock 'N' Roll marathon will kick of in the valley on Sunday at 7:40 am. The other local event is the NFC Championship game. The two events will flood the area with runners and spectators.
