Running With Mystic Canceled, State Back To Just One Marathon

Organizers of the Mystic Country Marathon have confirmed that they will no longer produce a 26.2 mile race in Eastern Connecticut in October. Instead, a shorter race, the Niantic Bay Half Marathon, will be held in the same area the last Sunday in September.

Dzmitry Sivou has come in second at a number of US marathons in his running career and was determined not to let it happen again at Mystic Country Marathon. He charged ahead of Sammy Koskei with 1.5 miles to go and earned his first US marathon win. Larisa Michailova won the women's division in a course-record 2:43:26.

Mystic Places Marathon: Chesang again tastes victory

Kenyan runner Reuben Chesang not only ran the Greater Hartford Marathon on Oct. 13, and this past weekend's inaugural Mystic Places Marathon, he won them both.
And he wasn't the only one packing two marathons into only a few weeks. Brazilian runner Luiz Carlos Ramos was the runner up in the same two races.
Elvira Kolpakova, 29, of Russia won the Baltimore Marathon Oct. 20. She won Mystic Places in 2:47:44 and took home $3,000.
