   Saeva surprises with gutty effort at Ontario Shore Marathon (Democrat and Chronicle)
It was unusual to find happy looks among serious runners who scanned the results sheets. Temperatures in the mid-70s kept times pretty fat for the Ontario Shore Marathon on Saturday. Runners prefer the mid-50s, and many were hoping the flat course would help them qualify for the Boston Marathon.

   Hill, Pullyblank win Ontario Shore Marathon (Rochester Democrat and Chronicle)
Policeman Matt Hill knew he had no chance of winning Saturday's Ontario Shore Marathon outside of Rochester, NY, but when the leader, who was trying to qualify for the Olympics, dropped out with a bad blister, he knew he could gut it out for the win. He finished with a 2:50 race. Marcia Pullyblank became the race's first double winner, when she crossed in 3:15:55.

   Marcia Pullyblank takes women's field in Ontario Shore Marathon in 3:20:45 (Rochester Democrat and Chronicle)
Marcia Pullyblank regained her lead at about mile 13 and forged ahead to win the women's the Ontario Shore Marathon on Saturday. She posted a 3:20:45 time, far faster than her 3:37 that she posted three weeks ago in Boston.
 
   Ted Thull best in record field at Ontario Shore Marathon (Rochester Democrat and Chronicle)
Ted Thull, 40, won Saturday's Ontario Shore Marathon in 2:53:55, making a name for himself in a region where his wife - a local high school girls' basketball coach with a star player.
