Nearly three-hundred runners showed up to support their physical fitness and local charities by competing in the Carrollton Festival of Races. Andres Pelikan of Kirkwood Missouri won the overall marathon with a time of 3 hours 5 minutes and 48 seconds.

The Carrolton Festival of Races will kick off at 5 am for marathon walkers or those with disabilities who wish to attempt the marathon. More than 100 runners have signed up for the revamped course that involves three laps to complete the 26.2 mile course.

Carrollton Marathon is being changed for the marathon's 10th anniversary. The monotonous eight laps around a five kilometer course will become something, race director, Craig Douglas, thinks will add a little more "zest".

   Carrollton Charity Road Race Director Craig Douglas Sets a Good Example (M Live)
The superintendent of Carrollton Schools as well as the director of the Carrollton Charity Road Race, the 56-year old Concord native had been known to run the marathon at the event he has coordinated for each of the last nine years. However, starting two years ago and continuing this year he felt it best to conserve more of his energy so that he could better focus on his duties as race director.
