   Foreign Runners Dominate Melbourne Marathon (China Post)
Asnake Fekadu of Ethiopia won the men’s race and Mai Tagami of Japan the women’s event at the Melbourne Marathon on Sunday. Fekadu finished the men’s race in 2 hours, 17 minutes. Josphat Mwangi of Kenya, also the runner-up last year, was second, and Yared Mekonnen of Ethiopia third. Tagami won the women’s race in 2 hours and 38 minutes.

   Lee Troop takes on Ethiopians in epic Melbourne Marathon (Herald Sun)
Lee Troop was slated to retire after the Beijing Olympic Marathon but has arrived in Melbourne to challenge three Ethiopians for the prize in the Melbourne Marathon. Asnake Fekadu, who set his personal best of 2:10.26 in Italy last year, has the best time entering the Melbourne race. He finished eighth in Dubai in January behind world record-holder Haile Gebrselassie.

   Marathon man scores 100 runs at 2004 Melbourne marathon (The Standard)
This year's Melbourne marathon will mark runner Col Silcock-Delaney's 25th run at Melbourne, and his 100th marathon overall. Since his first marathon in 1978, Silcock-Delaney has run marathons around the world, and ran with the Olympic torch in Port Campbell in 2000. He still trains daily, at 71 years old.
