(IAAF.org) Kenyas Sammy Kurgat won the Cologne Marathon with a course record time of 2 hours 10 minutes and 3 seconds. Kurgat was leading a pack of ten runners through the half way point in 1 hour 4 minutes and 32 seconds before taking the checkered flag nearly 30 sceonds ahead of his fellow countryman and defending champion Daniel Too.

Mockenhaupt Wins in Cologne in 2:29:33 Debut Marathon
(IAAF) Sabrina Mockenhaupt won her debut marathon today in Cologne, clocking 2:29:33. The 26-year-old German beat the qualifying time for the 2008 Olympic Marathon and fulfilled hopes of the organisers for a home win.

(IAAF) While Teferi Wodajo clocked 2:11:18 hours and was ahead of Benjamin Itok (Kenya / 2:12:08) and Francis Kiprop (Kenya / 2:13:00) Luminita Zaituc took the womens race in 2:28:24.

Kipyego wins Cologne Marathon in record time
(Nando Sports Server) Kenya's Ernest Kipyego set a new record of 2:10:53 when he won the Cologne Marathon on Sunday. The previous mark was 2:10:56, set by Germany's Carsten Eich.
