Wingate wins Gulf Coast marathon at Stennis Space Center

Leonard Vergunst, race director, was pleased with the six-hundred people who showed up for the rainy and windy Gulf Coast Marathon. Despite the conditions, Brandon Wingate won the overall marathon with a time of 2 hours 45 minutes and 43 seconds.

450 Participate in Mississippi Coast Marathon

Leonard Vergunst, a marathon fixture and masters runner who just happens to serve as the race organzier as well, won the Mississippi Coast Marathon in 2:51:31. The 52 year old captured his first win in four marathon outings this year. He placed 2nd in Tupelo, 3rd in Mississippi and 6th in the Mardi Gras Marathon.
