The thirty-eighth annual Wairarpa Country Marathon was won by Andy Bennet in 2 hours 50 minutes and 26 minutes.

Smith Prevails in Marathon

Neville Smith bested Peter Hamilton by over a minute, to take the Wairarapa Country Marathon in 2:29:43. Katrina Brougham won the women's race in 3:32:24, just ahead of Ingrid Frost.
