   Land Rover Malta Marathon: Belgium’s Rick Cuelemans wins ahead of Maltese runners Jason Martin and Richard Chetcuti (Malta Independent)
Rik Cuelemans of Belgium won the Malta Marathon on Sunday with a time of 2:25:59, beating out two Maltese runners, Jason Martin and Richard Chetcuti. Martin and Chetcuti, who finished in 2:33:30 and 2:35, respectively, are both members of Mellieha AC, a Maltese Athletic Club.
 
   Cuelemans braves rocky conditions to claim victory at Malta Marathon (Times of Malta)
Rik Cuelemans took first palce at the Malta Marathon with a time of 2:25:59, wlel ahead of second-place finisher Jason Martin, who came in with a PR time of 2:33:30. In the women's race, Carmen Hili held her title, with a time of 3:00:12, barely missing her target of breaking under 3 hours.

   Marathon of Records: Jonathan Balzan is Malta's fastest ever (Di-ve Sports)
The 2008 BMW Malta Marathon and Half-Marathon saw a number of records from a record number of registrants to Joshua Kipchumba's new course record win in 2:19:08. It was also a record for local Jonathan Balzan who garnered the fastest time of any Maltese athlete with his finish of 2:26:29. Women's race winner Carmen Hili won in a personal record of 3:01:48.

   Records Tumble In Malta Marathon (DI-VE Sports)
Kenyan Joshua Kipchumba won the 200 Malta Marathon in 2:18:37. Julius Kirwa Choge was second in 2:20:35 and Joachim Nshimirmana was third in 2:20:59. the highlight to locals was the finish by Jonathan Balzan who set the fastest ever time for a Maltese athlete in the marathon with a time of 2:26:29. Balzan has only trained as a serious runner once he turned thirty years old. In the women's race Carmen Hili won in 3:01.48, followed by Marisa Muscat and Petra Schiesewitz.

   Marchane wins again at Malta Marathon and promises to be back (The Times of Malta)
Right from the start of the 19th edition of the BMW Malta Marathon, all the attention was focused on Abdel Kebir Marchane. Not only was the Sicily-based Moroccan runner the holder of the title, but on the eve of the event he had stated his ambition to break the course record of 2.19.30 set by Hugh Jones back in 1993.

The 19th BMW Malta Marathon, held yesterday, was another success story for Moroccan runner Abdel Kebir Marchane. The Sicily-based athlete defended his crown by clocking a winning time of 2:22.21 in the 42.1km marathon, starting from Mdina and finishing at The Ferries in Sliema.

Malta's Mellieha Athletic Club had a good showing in last weekend's BMW Malta Marathon, with two runners placing in the top five. The Club is also seeing some new faces this year such as David Payne who won the over 60 year-old half marathon category in 1:29:42.

   BMW to Sponsor Next Month’s Malta Marathon (Standard Publications; Malta Independent)
Last monday marked the day of decision for Malta Marathon organizers to make BMW the official sponsor of their race. The 18 year old event has managed to attract 700 runners, 300 of whom are Malta locals.
