In the marathon, Connie Seigh of Pleasant Valley and the host Mid-Hudson Road Runners Club won the women's title. Men's winner Tom Holland of Darien, Conn., took first overall in a personal-best time of 2:54:49.

   Tennariello wins Dutchess County Classic marathon (Poughkeepsie Journal)
Vincent Tennariello, a 34-year-old resident of Basking Ridge, N.J., won Sunday's Dutchess County Classic Marathon in 2:54:45, the only runner to finishe in under three hours. Scott Sebelsky took second. He was a last-minute entry who nearly gave up in a downpour.
 
   Juckett's top effort leads her to Dutchess County Classic women's marathon crown (Poughkeepsie Journal)
Stacy Juckett of New York City turned a personal best into victory, taking the women's field in Sunday's Dutchess County Classic Marathon in 3:30:40. Kristen Leavitt of Easton, Conn., finished second with a time of 3:38:10, also a personal best time. High humidity and rain, however, kept the times from being what they could have been.

The Dutchess County Classic marathon and other races drew runners in patriotic garb with the Twin Towers tragedy fresh on their minds. The races began with a moment of silence, and many participants were running in tribute to victims of the terrorist attack.

Artie Green of Poughquag, N.Y., won Sunday's Dutchess County Classic marathon in Wappingers Falls, N.Y., in a record time of 2:30:33, trimming nearly 3 minutes off the old record - this dispite a late-race leg cramp. Stefanie Wondriska of Norfolk, CT, won the women's race in 3:25:02.
