"It was well marked, good aide stations and support" (about: 2016)

The Night Sweats was my third race of the summer and the longest I've ever done on trails. Coming back from a knee injury, I took my time on the downhill that was rocky leading up to TVA. Combining the marathon runners with the 15 K people went without a hitch although it might of been responsible for screwing up the computerized results. First time running at night which made me a bit cautious as I did not want to fall off a cliff. The fact that 75 and 100 mile folks were running the course with us was a real upper. They all seemed so serene and in the moment, like they were going for a Sunday stroll in the park. I can't say I really enjoyed this race until the last 3 miles as it was downhill all the way with the exception of a straight and flat trail that led up to the finish line. I really felt like I was flying, even though I probably was not going faster than a 7:30 pace. Great support from the volunteers as they were standing at the spot where we needed to make a right instead of a left which would of put us on a path to NeverNever Land. Food stations were about right, although I did not need any refreshments until the end where the hot soup warmed my innards. Fantastic introduction to night racing, Might change my mind and do another one next year!
