"Great small race high in the mountains" (about: 2016)
11-50 previous marathons
| 2 Breckenridge Road Marathons
COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 3 I have run this both years and it is very enjoyable. The course was more difficult this year but very beautiful. The race director, Molly, is a very energetic person that adds to the fun experience.

"Great scenery, not great course aid" (about: 2016)
11-50 previous marathons
| 1 Breckenridge Road Marathon
COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 3 FANS: 1 The scenery for this race would be hard to beat. The fall colors as you come down the mountain are an easy distraction. However, I ran the 1/2 and while I would generally never rate a race (or even comment at all) based on course aid...my race was ruined because I needed a porta potty once and there was not one until after mile 7 (and it was the only one). Had I been running the full marathon, I legit would have had to drop out. They either need to make it clear they do not have restrooms along the way, or add some restrooms.

"Small town" (about: 2015)
11-50 previous marathons
| 1 Breckenridge Road Marathon
COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 3 FANS: 1 This is a small town race with minimal signage for registration, but a clear course and finish. I believe this was the inaugural race, although that wasn't advertised. There were some organizational hiccups: they ran out of popular sizes of women's shirts, and at an intersection where cops were hired for the race, several runners were stopped and waited for a traffic light to cross the intersection to continue the race course. There were one or two buses to transport runners back to eh start, but little information was given about transportation options in advance. There were few bathrooms along the course, but plenty of gels and an unknown energy drink. Post race food seemed home cooked but was adequate for the run.

"Beautiful High Altitude Course" (about: 2015)
11-50 previous marathons
| 1 Breckenridge Road Marathon
COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 3 This race was small in 2015 and had the real feel of a family affair. The course is beautiful, the pre and post-race food is homemade, and the race directors are wonderful people. I am looking forward to 2016! |
