"Poor planning, worse execution." (about: 2012)

Team Ortho is known for putting on quality (and slightly pricey) events. So I figured I'd give this one a shot. The coat was decent, although some other peoples were cut poorly.
There was no bag drop at the start of the race - only before you got on the shuttles to the start (which makes no sense).

The race started late due to shuttles being late, and even then, some people missed the start.
The course was advertised as fast and flat. I'd disagree the beginning had some average rollers but had HUGE hills at the end. Most of the end of the race took place on wide open road with no cover, and no spectators. I would have thought we could have been placed on the paved wooded trail that ran along the road.

The mood in general was pretty poor. Little to no fan fair at the end -and I was middle pack.

I think there were many small ways this could have been better executed, I understand this was a first year, but I've done several other inaugural marathons which were amazing.

"Not bad for a first year..." (about: 2012)

4-5 previous marathons | 1 Women Rock Marathon

We couldn't have had a better day to run, weather was PERFECT!! The course was a little rough at the end. HUGE hill in the last 2 miles...yuck! Would have like to see the course turned around. Run down the hill and in the sun in the morning and on the flat shaded area for the end. They ran out of everything they said they were offering. Champange glasses, pendents and the jackets were really NOT what I was expecting. I windbreaker more than a running jacket. We got on the 2nd to last bus before the start and by the time we got off the bus walked a half mile to the start the race had already started. That's just a planning issue that needs to be fixed for next year.
