Loops(4)on a forested trail near Gig Harbor. 2012 was very wet(pouring rain for 8 hours). It was miserable weather and trail conditions deteriorated as the race unfolded. The trail terrain was not difficult but the muddy conditions and deep water made it tough.
Race packet(bib)pickup was at the RD's home. Course support was good considering the adverse conditions the volunteers had to deal with. I'm from the PNW so use to sloppy winter trail running but the pouring rain was ridiculous and the water and mud got deeper as the day progressed.
My bib was a leftover from a Santa Run and the 'medal' award was a round of wood with a Wishbone Marathon stickie.
There were hot drinks and pancakes at the finish served by the RD and crew who were standing in deep puddles. Got to love their dedication to this event.
The registration fee is a monetary donation to the local food bank. What you gain in personal accomplishment far exceeds the price of admission.
