Great trail marathon through lovely hillside scenery. The route is moderately challenging with many little ups and downs and several stream crossings (water not very deep, your feet will get wet but nothing else) as you ascend Pilot Mountain. You run a little loop around top which is cool, before descending. The little ups and downs are tough near the end of the race, but that's what makes it challenging!

If you're looking for an early season trail race with a good amount of elevation gain and great scenery, this is a great choice.

I was very pleased with the organization of this race. The course is incredibly challenging, with big uphills and downhills as well as some challenging trails. Bring a camera if you run it. Well done to the race organizers for putting on a great event. There is also a "heavy half" marathon, which is quite difficult but turns around right before the really tough part.
