WOW, what a trail race! This course was brutally tought and the temps were a bit warm as well. But, overall the experience was amazing. The course has a tough climb from miles 4-9 but that is where you get the best views of the day. Some quick decents then relatively flat back half marathon. There are 2 quick and tough climbs on the back side of the run but they have aid stations at the top so you get to rest briefly.
The aid stations were well stocked, and the volunteers were great. No spectators on the course (thats whu I gave it a 5 star). Its a trail marathon, there should not be any spectators. Just you getting your butt through 26miles!
Recommendations for runners; get some altitude training before this run. Include downhills since this really fatigues your quads. Bring a camelback/nathan back or hand-held water device. It was hot and dry out tehre and drinking only at the aid stations will not work.
Overall a great experience. It was probably the toughest trail run I have ever done, but well organized and lots of fun.
