Race Organizer Comments
NEW exciting Trail races
Janice
(8/22/08)
Join us in North Georgia for a course that can be difficult, with technical trails and long, extended climbs, over and around Fort Mountain. You will be treated to great scenic views and the interesting features of Fort Mtn State Park, including the mysterious stone wall built on the mountain top over a thousand years ago. We have a 12 mile race in addition to the marathon.

If you are looking for a true trail marathon, look no further. This race has all variety of challenging trail conditions, with sharp, loose rocks galore; roots; stone steps; steep drops; killer uphills; and some of the most beautiful scenery in the North Georgia area. Organization is great, as are the aid stations and the people who man them. The only real disappointment: the pirate at the last aid station did/does not offer rum.

I ran the both the inaugural 2008 version of this race and the 2009 version. For 2009, the course was changed slightly to add more distance to make it a "true" 26.2. But the trails themselves are beautiful, scenic, and demanding - a mix of single track, dirt/gravel utility or forest service roads, and HILLS make this a truly challenging race. I LOVED IT! Fantastic aid/support along the way and at the finish, and a well marked course definitely make this one to mark on your calendar! Recommended only for experienced marathoners or ultra-runners.

This was the best-marked trail course I have ever run. I never had to question if I was on the right trail. The volunteers were great. The views of the north Georgia mountains at this time of the year are absolutely amazing. The course was challenging but very rewarding. Thanks to the organizers for this race. I will be back next year.

Inaugural running of the MMM was flawless: Great support, great course markings, beautiful weather, excellent organization. If you like trails, come run this one. No repeat miles with the course making two big loops around the park - the first on a hiking trail, and second on a mountain bike trail. Lots of mountain trail-running goodness.

Never before have I run a race that was so perfect. North Georgia in the middle of fall. The color of the trees provided an amazing experience. There were parts of the trail that made you feel like you were running through a golden tunnel. Very cool. I think there were 4 or 5 scenic overviews included in the course that provided the types of views that you usually see in calendars. If you are looking for a challenging trail marathon that takes place in the fall, this is the one.

Ankle-twisting, knee-popping, quad-burning, face-planting, diabolically relentless climbing... in other words, GREAT!!!! Thanks to all of the support staff and organizers.
I have run 40 marathons and this was by far the hardest course, but the most beautiful I have done!!
Sign me up for next year!!!
