"What a race" (about: 2005)

First Marathon
COURSE: 5  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 3

This was my first 1/2 marathon and 1st trail run. First 1/2 went well, the 2nd was uphill. I was very happy that my time was much better than I predicted. I agree with needing medals and fancier shirts. Overall the fellow runners were very friendly and the staff was encouraging.

Gotta tell ya... for a tough trail run, this is it.
Support for this type of run rocked; however, you need to award medals. I'm sure that people would 'poney-up' a few more bucks to get a medal...
Other then that, it was a great race.

Good job Bob!!!!!

"Low-key race on beautiful, groomed trails" (General Comments)

11-50 previous marathons | 2 Iowa Trail Marathons
COURSE: 5  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 1

This race features a half marathon, marathon and 50K. I've done the 50K in 2002 and 2004.

The course consists of several 4.45 mile loops through a country park over groomed trails, grass and tiny bits of asphalt. The course is rolling with one good, stiff climb per loop. The course is mostly shaded and has two aid stations (start/finish, and midway through the loop).

The race take place about 1 mile outside of a town that has motels; tent camping (with water and a communal shower/bathroom) is also available (I did that in 2004).

The race directors and fellow runners are friendly; I can recommend this race highly.

One unusual feature is that one gets one shirt for signing up and another one for finishing.
